We have had the discussion, we know the answer. The dog will tell you when it is time. This fucker is different.

Quick backstory:
Two Res dogs given to us from an old friend two weeks after putting our other ones down. Litter mates, their mother was busy as one is a rot mix and black, the other pit mix and white.

Good dogs, they were trained early to "protect the momma", that being my wife while I'm gone.

Fast forward. Buster (black Rock mix 95 lbs 9 yrs) has had breathing issues for a few months, we took him in Saturday as I also suspected hip dysplasia. After a couple X - Ray's he is diagnosed with very aggressive lung cancer and has been givin a week.

Doc gives us the usual, when he stops eating, drinking. This motherfucker can't breath for shit, I know he's in pain, his litter mate can feel his affliction, and the bastard still keeps going gobbling up food water etc.

I'm not new to my dogs passing, dealt with it since I can remember. I usually put them down when I know its time. Once again, this fucker is different... I think we'll let it run its course.

Thoughts?

The only time my last dog had an appetite was when cancer was kicking his ass... I learned of the cancer after he passed. Had I known I wouldnt have waited. I'm guessing yours will tough it out until he cant as well. I really wish I had some good advice.

Fuck canine cancer

Interesting.

Wife thinks he's gonna say fuck you cancer. I'm not so sure.

Sorry for you loss, and indeed fuck cancer in general! It has taken far too many that I cared about.

Just put my dog to sleep today...(see avatar). Severe hip dysplasia, I loaded her up on pain pills and took her to the farm to wonder around this afternoon. She had a good day but was tripping and falling a lot. Took her to the vet to relieve her pain this evening. We could of kept giving her pain meds but it was delaying the inevitable by weeks or maybe a few months, and we felt it would be selfish to keep her stoned just to have her here longer. Rather her go out on a high note than on a day when she hurt too bad to move. Sucks but its part of the deal when you get a pup.

Post online about an unregistered silencer. The ATF will take care of the rest.

Somehow I figured you would chime in, I don't know why. Perhaps our history.
R.I.P Bucky.

' Tis time.

Not certain it takes takes that anymore. " ugh, you say bad things about people and things and such" .. "You... um bad... ugh"

In November, I got home from the hospital after having a tumor removed from my neck and my beloved Sasha gave me that same look. No energy, pale gums, called the mobile vet to get it done. She had some type of fast moving cancer in her organs. She was my best friend for ten years, the best dog I have ever encountered, and I owed her the courage to put her out of her misery.

Sorry you're going through this. It fucking sucks. You know when you know. :(

If he's in more pain than joy, it's time. Good that he's got you looking out for him.

Good choice, Juzty. Making her life as good as it can be.

Ugh. :frown:

If it's not cying, let it be. Once it suffers and cries, you do what you need to do to show some love and mercy.

So sorry to hear of this. No matter what you decide it will always hurt.

Dogs have a high pain threshold and will not show the magnitude of the pain they are in. One telltale is when they start shivering.

We lost our American Alsatian at this time last year. He went from a completely healthy appearing and acting 6 y.o. dog to painful terminal condition in two weeks. Bebesiosis from a tick bite. It's hard. You will do the right thing for your pup.

This was my original thought.

Yes it will...Part of owning a dog..
That's pretty much where we're at. Diagnosed Saturday with two weeks to live.

Buster is going back and forth from "hey man, I'm cool" to "fuck this shit". Even non medicated he seems fine at times, his breathing is still off though consistently.

This is why I posted. Its different with this guy. I've had every dog of mine live no less than 12 years comfortably. Its fucking me up!

He was first diagnosed with pneumonia, then the docs at the emergency clinic said "no, it's not a fog over his lungs, it's large lumps within his lungs". With the BS scamdemic we were not able to go inside and see the x-rays ,(we sat in the car the whole time) complete bullshit!

The wife wants a second opinion. We are getting a second opinion Friday from his normal Doc... We'll make the decision from there.
