I picked up 200 rounds of 50 BMG API that the seller said he shot one in his Bushmaster BA 50 and it got stuck. Brand is Fedarms, factory reloads. After inspecting all of them, I have found around 40 that have necks that look similar to this. Going to buy a headspace gauge to check the rest of them. Can these be cleaned up with a Dremel and shot or do I need to pull the bullet and clean up the case and reload? I will be shooting out of a Barrett M82. The guy just wanted to get rid of these and sold them for $2 a round.

If, and that is IF, they chamber, use them. Otherwise, Dremel...

Its brass that you are not going to reload. If they chamber, I dont see what you will gain by getting out the 'ol dremel.

If they dont chamber, I would probly just cull the junkers and move on.

I was just looking at some 50cal rounds this last weekend. They all had a taper on the outside of the neck. Almost looked like they had been tapered intentionally. Maybe that is part of reloading 50s, IDK. Or they may have been military surplus and not reloads...not sure.
Either way, what you have look like shit and not right. I'd agree, if you can turn the outside of the necks down, so they chamber, I'd say there would be no issue with shooting them. But if/when you reload them, be sure to taper the outside of the neck so you don't have this issue again.

considering attention to detail is everything with reloading ammo, how confident are you some of them aren't way over pressure too?

This is taken from their web page about the ammo. Granted it does not fit in all 50 BMG rifles like they say it does. "
Cartridges are loaded with brand new mil-spec CCI #35 boxer primers and US Made SMP military powders. Powder is dropped to +/- 0.2 grain tolerance to ensure the highest accuracy and performance.

Cartridges are loaded to SAAMI specifications for length/dimensions and pressures to properly function in any 50 BMG rifle or machine gun.

Velocity / Pressure: 2,930 FPS (SAAMI pressure)"

If they didn’t chamfer, they probably didn’t trim them either. If they didn’t trim, they probably didn’t check sizing. Brass prep is 80% of reloading. I’d send them back. If not returnable, I’d pull the bullets and powder, weigh the charge, prep the cases and reload them.
