Looking for a new air filter setup. I was running a Spectre enclosed air filter and it appears it was too small.. sucked the filter in. Looking for a new setup. I've seen the UMP filter canister setup. Don't really want to run an open filter.. seeing what you guys have that work well. Stock air box is no longer an option.

Post 109 in this thread has a few pics of the Ford Windstar air filter I used.

Looked about like this

I've since plumbed the inlet to pull cooler air from above the LH fender through a hole in the side of the hood.

Donaldson industrial filters, the powercore ones flow pretty good for thier size. They also hold a shit ton of dirt.

UMP's filter well, they just don't flow well. A single one is good for a max of 250hp. After that they start robbing power.

Sizing the Donaldson is sorta unclear though. Hard to figure out what flow rate you need. I tried to show one for my LBZ truck but the housing is too big in each direction.

You gotta kinda know the flow requirements for your engine. They give the CFM ratings for all the filters. They are rated at a pretty high vacuum though so you need to factor that in.

Running a Donaldson OptiAir. Tractor and AG equipment run a lot of the universal industrial filters.
Look for a filter with a 4” outlet and that should get you close to LS engine CFMs.
Maybe a 3” if you’re running less HP.

oh Donaldson is great as giving flow rating, it's the other end I'm not sure about. But they are super nice self contained unti with massive filters.

Chevy express van air filter possibly?
