just run a bikini all year long
The OEM Jeep soft top is a modern marvel. Sure it's loud and uninsulated, but it's good for 5-7 years and holds out water while being easy to throw on a shelf or fold back. Hard tops are overrated.
I have experience with both. Not even concerned with "hype of either" My interaction with the soft tops is not working out. All the fucking zippers an foggy plastic is wearing on me. The half door windows are impossible . The glass sliders are worthless and the plastic flop-outs get covered in mud and are useless. My hard top issues were storage and shitty doors that break at the window frame. The soft top benefit is storage. That's it. It's a total POS in every other aspect. It all comes down to preference. I suppose the door thing is the majority of the issue. Soft top with a full hard top door? never seen one.
I like hanging out my door. The plastic windows suck balls. They don't like me and I don't like them. The top is irrelevant I suppose, other than the back window is way better than the zipper BS.
There are lots of soft tops with full doors, just needs the proper oem surround. I prefer half doors, and just remove the window portion and not unzip it. I hated the hard top all the way around. Heavy, just as loud as soft top, leaked, storage and removal sucked, cracks, not warmer or cooler. My soft tops never leaked, hard tops always leaked. The only thing I give hard tops is the rear window. The soft top rear window will absolutely piss you the fuck off.
