Adding cruise control to a magnum PCM.

Possibly dumb question. My J20 is magnum swapped, and I want to add the magnum cruise control back into it via the mid 80's FSJ/GM column multifunction switch.


I know the multifunction switch is 12v, but is the magnum computer a 5v reference, or 12v for the cruise. I have pin out and wiring diagrams for both, I just want to make sure I'm not gonna fry my ECM.

It would be nice to have on longer road trips.


Edit: I should mention the ECM is a ram computer running a ZJ powertrain. same=same.

Usually sensors are 5v, but swtiched inputs (like the cruise) are 12v.

Look at a diagram and trace back the wires to see what feeds the mutliposition switch. 99% chance that it's a 12v from somewhere in the fuse block.
