Accident near Vegas with vehicle hauling off road truck

Sounds like the passengers of the truck are fine, the passengers of the sedan on the other hand are not fine. Here’s the off-road vehicle

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- Two adults and one child are dead following a fiery multi-vehicle crash involving a sedan, Ford truck and an off-road vehicle late Thursday morning.

According to Nevada Highway Patrol, about 11:15 a.m., a Ford Truck hauling a trailer was towing an off-road vehicle on I-15 northbound en route to US-95 northbound off ramp. At the time of the crash, a sedan traveling northbound on I-15 made an unsafe lane change on the freeway. The sedan then struck an impact attenuator, or roadside crash cushion, before striking the Ford. Upon impact, both vehicles hit the right wall, then went over the barricade, NHP said.

Witnesses at the scene told police the sedan was driving recklessly at the time of the crash, crossing solid white lines before impact. About five hours following the incident, NHP said three victims were located inside the sedan. The ages of the occupants was unknown as of Thursday evening.

The passengers in the Ford truck walked away from the scene and were cleared by medical personnel. In exclusive video obtained by FOX5, a man and his 4-year-old daughter were seen escaping the wreckage before the vehicle combusts.

A worker from the World Market Center nearby heard multiple bangs from within the company's garage elevator. From the sixth floor, French walked to the edge and began recording the scene.

"It sounded like a garbage dumpster being dropped from the sky," Todd French told FOX5.

French saw the Ford truck dangling from the rail before its male occupant jumped out and removed his daughter from the vehicle. At the same time, French said a Good Samaritan pulled over on the highway, exited her vehicle and ran to aid the victims of the crash.

"She came running back, and down and over the rail to try to get the little girl out," French said. "They got her out before the truck was fully engulfed in flames."

French said the girl inside the truck appeared to be uninjured after the crash. The Ford truck, however, "went up (in flames) in a matter of minutes."

The Ford landed on top of the sedan, quickly killing the driver of the sedan at the scene. The off-road vehicle separated from the trailer and was then struck by a pick-up truck.

NHP said the cars hit a nearby power pole, creating live wires exposed, making it unsafe for crews to get to the vehicles until the power had been shut off.

This is an ongoing investigation. Avoid the

If I read correct, the car is under that truck.
Sounds like the driver of the car was being a complete idiot and it cost them their life, along with a child and another passenger. Fucked.

Dang...glad they got out of the truck before it was engulfed. Hate it for the passengers of the asshat driving the car.

Can barely see the crumpled car under in the video on the link.

Headline and article don't quite jive.

Hopefully the headline is incorrect and it was a car load of tweakers.

Put me down in the folks in the utility truck being killed camp. When I thought that was the case, seeing that truck burning sucked to see. Big reason I carry a knife with a seatbelt cutter.

Shitty situation for all.

The video shows the driver of the truck out and barely removing his little girl before it went up in flames. The car is smoldering under the truck the whole time.

Yea, at first I saw the truck in flames. Maybe it was the pics I looked at first. I saw that before I watched the video.

Sad, sad event, I'm glad that at least the guy and his daughter made it out OK.

I’ve got a 1 degree of separation connection with the chase truck driver. A friend that personally checked on him says this.

It was him and his daughter in the chase truck delivering Dan Fresh’s T truck to V2R. Chase truck driver is cruising in the slow lane when he got hit by the car traveling much faster than the chase truck. They go over the wall truck coming to rest on top of the car. The race truck broke off of the trailer in the wreck, getting tailended by a passing vehicle. The chick that catches the 4 year girl was someone who just stopped to help. Chase truck driver used all the fire extinguishers he had trying to put the fire out, obviously unsuccessfully. Because of the fire they weren’t able to even attempt to extract people from the car. If the car people survived the initial impact they burned alive trapped in the car with the truck on top of it.

They were able to repair the race truck and Dan, whom I do know. Took the green flag earlier this morning despite the wreck.

Sucks too, because you can see him glance under his truck but it was too late to help with the fire.

Way too many idiot asshole drivers here. One of the many reasons I stay far away from downtown. The strip seems to attract retards in large groups. The positive thing is the people in the car will pay attention next time. :flipoff2:

The woman who came over to help rescue the little girl looks pretty hot from a distance. I'd like to personally thank her for her efforts :smokin:

uh someone might want to brush up on their tie down skills.

Exactly what I thought. You’ve probably been around those trophy truck trailers more than I have, I’ve never looked close at how they tie down cars up on those rails. But it sounds like the retention system needs a second look.

that trailer should be wide enough for the truck to be on the deck.

when i was working for cody my worst fears were - crashing the truck, the rigs falling off the trailer.

I don’t have my terminology right. Truck should be wide enough to sit on the elevated platform(s) or drive over fenders. Although it’s not exactly drive over fenders. Basically tool boxes with fender wells Frenched into them. Our enclosed race trailer has the same setup. Basically 3 ft tall pedestals the vehicle’s park on that we can walk under the cars while their loaded. I ”think” our rigs are firmly captured When we travel but this makes me wonder.

And I thought it looked more like one of these. Hard for me to see when everything is blacked out.

Found a good close up and you’re right, it’s a regular deck with rails. We haul our cars on ramp overs like Addingtons above.

I lived there near 20 years and that area seems like it's always under construction and can be pretty hairy especially with folks going 70+. Stupid car drivers don't comprehend the idea of 15k or so rolling down the road.

Sorry for the dead folks.

The chase truck was not properly tied down it seems, since it came off the trailer.
