Putting my pool away for the season (first year). I lined the bottom of it with a felt pad so it didn’t reek like dead grass horse piss. Under the felt I found this unique crop circle… it’s too dark for better photos but it’s definitely white mold-ish. No I didn’t lick it.

Anyone else here with trashy pools ever seen this?

Outer Range Portal to another dimension?

Could be a mold. Looks more like a mycelium ring to me. If it’s not too late in the year for a mushroom bloom you could get a fairy ring from that. If you leave it alone this year, next year you could get your fairy ring.

Unsure if I should google that term…..

Have had that happen, though not to that extent, under my tent after several days of camping with a decent amount of rain

Okay so the above ground pool was doing great for about 6 weeks with a sand filter and proper water chemistry. Was…

Turned green…
With all levels normal I trued to use pool bleach to shock it, 10%.

3000 gallon pool, 44 fluid ounces of 10% bleach should have raised it by 5ppm. Algae was greener the next morning, WTF?

I am about ready to drain and fill it to start over. Ideas to avoid the drain and fill?

I ran into this last year… I couldn’t kill it because I was using the recommended levels of shock.

It’s not 100% but what does one of your test strips look like? My pool has been a rockstar this year since I figured out how to use stabilizer without a skimmer after the third summer

Edit; are you buying chemicals from a pool store or Walmart or someplace for poors?

I was using cheap chemicals last summer and had all these issues. Pool store chemicals and it’s been 110%

Post Pic of said pool in current condition. Also, that 10% liquid chlorine you're using from box stores really isn't gonna cut it

Did you end up just buying liquid conditioner or putting the powder in your pump basket?

I bought a disposable skimmer sock and tied it next to one of the returns. Next year I think I might go fancy and rig up an inline filter basket or something to have the water cycle through it before it goes to the pump

Do you all drain and take down every year?
I leave mine up, full of water, through the winter. Cover, beachball in middle to make tent for water/snow to drop off edges and that's it.
Maybe drain and refill in spring if needed.
