A wolf in Jeeps clothing - Goatbuilt 1200 LJ/TJ Chassis build

Got the seats and dash installed over the weekend. Now I can really start planning how I want to mount everything. I am redoing the floor panels and the trans hump to increase foot room and hopefully make it a little more comfortable. With those designed and ready for laser, I am going to design a center console and have that cut at the same time. Slowly moving along.

If you redesign the trans tunnel to tie into the existing floor and firewall i will for sure buy that. I get crazy cramps in my right leg because i lean it on the hard angle of the tunnel.

Mines been wheeling for 2.5 years now...the goal is to get it wheeling so you can enjoy it and then add this nick nack shit along the way

I will let you know when I get it ordered. It should be a pretty simple swap.

Next, I got the front seats located and mounted. That was pretty simple all things considered. One thing that took exponetially longer than I anticapted was making shoulder harness brackets. I swear I they took me 4+ hours start to finish.

You hand make these or do you have a file?

WE NEED PROGRESS REPORTS
The last few months have been pretty rough, not going to lie. My uncle got killed on his bike, work has been fuckin stupid, and life has gotten in the way of pretty much all progress/fun. I haven't shot any guns in a few months, I only have 1200 miles on the bike this summer, and now it's damn near winter here (woke up to 26° this morning).

And to top it all off, the house that I have had my eye on for the last decade is going up for sale in the next few months. I can't justify spending a bunch of cash on the jeep when I need to save for a down payment. The ol' girl may not get the nice paint and powdercoat treatment I was once planning. It will probably be a duplicolor/rustoleum rattle can job.

This will be my new driveway.

With all that said, now I have a deadline of May 1st to have it "done". It may not be perfect, but it needs to be driveable and have some sort of coating on the bare steel.

Maybe I should start a go fund me. :lmao:

Just get the electrical components installed :flipoff2:
I will. I have one more weekend of bullshit, then I am back on it. (heard that before, huh....)

I am also a hoarder. And I hate myself for that, but can't let free shit go. I 100% blame my grandpa and my uncle. Hahahaha. But a local machine shop got evicted, and everything had to go, for free. I am proud I kept it to only 9 pallets.....

That is all 4130 chromoly tubing and 6061 bar stock, sitting on a 85/25 cyl, an acetylene cyl, and a huge nitrous cyl.

Two radial aircraft engines

In those crates are granite surface plates, bridgeport risers, probably 2500 bearings, raw material, welding equipment, vises, fabricating tools, everything.

Then my uncle lost his life, and I had the opportunity to build his urn, and that completely destroyed my shop. I had a very short time frame, and cleaning was not high on the list of priorities. This is how my shop has looked for two weeks :shaking: I am going to whip it back into shape this weekend, roll the jeep back out in the middle and stop fucking around with stupid projects.

Rough update life wise for sure! It's also quite amazing that you kept it only to 9 pallets!
I tried really hard. I ALMOST bought a container. There were 3 airplanes, 20+ engines, a cnc lathe with bar feeder, just so much stuff. I am very limited on space, thank god.
Dibs on coming up to clean while yall make forward progression on the build.

Free stuff is free stuff.
Deal. Hahah. I moved 4 hours from where I grew up, and my friends down here all have kids, wives, all that good stuff. I bet I spend 99 percent of my time in the shop alone. I would love some company!
rust is a coating
Can't deal with that type of coating though. I can deal with shitty spray paint, but not rust.

Sounds about right in terms of how much stuff they had and how much you helped relocate within reason.

When the in-laws closed their electric motor repair company (same location from 1987-2014), we had to sift through 9k square feet of stuff shoved into a 7k square foot building. The shear amount of things they’d kept (most of which "just needed one more thing" was just mind boggling.

Spray bomb it and go do burnouts! Get it going to work all the bugs out then in a year or two tear it back down for the pretty.

Sorry about the sad updates and loss, congrats on the house and free stuff!

Bebop is coming up between christmas and new years to help get a handle on the wiring. Holy shit am I excited about that!!!! (It's on the internet, so it has to be true).

I got bit by the gun bug this spring/summer and have been trying to get outside as much as possible. It will get done sometime.

I have a customer with the same kit, same axles, and my old shocks. He is KILLING it, and recently got it completed. I am planning a trip over to MI in the next month or so to check it out.
