oh and when i said oppressed people.. notice how i didnt mention people of color..

it unifies people who feel they are oppressed in other ways too.. think about the end of platoon, when the hero in a helicopter is saying goodbye to the dude with the staff

From the Brown Beret's national commander, BLM is fully supported.

“We are fully supportive of the Black Lives Matter Movement. It is extremely important that the world understand that we are in a fight for human dignity and basic human rights,” said Chimalli Cuetlachtli, current National Commander of the National Brown Berets. “When Black people say ‘Stop killing us’ and the only response that White America has is ‘BUT…’ there is a huge problem. This country is [still] steeped in racism, oppression, and colonialism and movements and organizations that are fighting for the rights of people of color are necessary.”

so there are many organizations that say they are in charge of this or that.. even Austin has multiple chapters/organizations..

I dont know who that person is..

.. I personally think..

No you don't.

#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.

Where in the above statement does it mention them supporting any other color/race?

I'm not sure that it is race-focused messaging...

supporting BLM does not just support blacks.. I personally think..

This country is [still] steeped in racism, oppression, and colonialism and movements and organizations that are fighting for the rights of people of color are necessary.”

this is race focused messaging.

if you think BLM supports other than black people, I've got news for you

there is much documentation to the contrary. go ahead and check out BLM messaging that says "we are for the black community, we need to make sure funds reach the black community and not just people of color". go ahead and note the rejection of the POC label and the use of BIPOC. black and indigenous people - of color, focused solely on those two groups with nothing but lip service to the indigenous.

remember the fabled rapper who met with trump and biden refused to meet with them to discuss his plan? it was solely about black people and explicitly not about "people of color"

if you want specific examples, i'd be happy to provide some. just give a direction as there are too many to list.

I really don't know much about BLM

well, they are openly profiting off black death, supporting the creation of division and celebrating violence, and they horde donated cash to enrich just a few off the backs of the many. if you don't know much about them, your default position should not be one of support and you should strongly question anybody encouraging their support.

they are absolutely toxic and they do not support you or generalized oppressed people

oh wow, i went to look for there abolish the police and nuclear family stuff and saw some more of black only stuff in there "about" section

sorry latinos, asians, arabs, native americans, foreigners of any kind below is what BLM is about

We are expansive. We are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. We also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. We must ensure we are building a movement that brings all of us to the front.

We affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. Our network centers those who have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.

We are working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise.

We affirm our humanity, our contributions to this society, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation."

cuz i don't know why ya'll want to discuss BLM, with someone who says they don't know anything about the movement.. and how it has evolved

Because you're a vocal supporter of Brown Berets, who (as quoted above) fully support BLM.

Transitive property says you support BLM.

I tried to make it clear, the brown berets I talk to and associate with, are not under that dude in california, as far as I know..

we try to work with other groups within the community when we can..

its like saying all democrats or republicans agree with the same things, just cuz its all one big party.. and it's not

except your saying that YOUR brown berets are different from THERE brown berets

thats like saying this KKK chapter does not share the same values as this other KKK chapter, (im not comparing brown berets to the kkk by the way)

actually it's THEIR chapter (spelling)

there are a few different national leaders.. and i sometimes am not sure who is part of what.. many times I'm not concerned about what group they are speaking for..

wait are the local guys youre talking about members of a local chapter of a national organization?

are any of ya'll black?

do you believe that it is possible to have empathy for others even if they don't look like you?

I have immediate family members that are black, in addition to native (directly, none of the twice removed stuff) and whatever you consider Hispanic.

I said nothing of the sort.

And thats what was in the other thread.

I guess you want to just turn thus thread into that one.

I may have missed that. although you were generally in the "hitler was mostly right" camp it seemed, and Germanic expansion was a big part of his program so it seems to follow :rasta:

I talk a lot on facebook.. with people from all over the state, pretty often.. and also other parts of the country.. I sorta understand names and allegiances within the main groups.. One is fairly new, and lots of people from diff parts of the state are aligning themselves with this group.. sorta

which is a common thing to say. see your views about trump

edit: and you've adopted their symbolism and mantras as your own

that's the part I don't get. if you don't align or agree with most of the movement, because they are elsewhere, then why belong to the movement and not a local thing with it's own view.

(EDIT but other people who are parts of national orgs have spread into Austin.. and I have not met any of them, though some have called my house
personally Im not opposed to working wirth them..)
