I built an '88 4Runner for my Dad back in '14 or so and he's wanting to sell it - doesn't have the room and doesn't use it much anymore. I'm trying to help him get it sold. Let me know if you have any questions. Located in Palm Springs area... Struggling to figure out what to price it at, so I'm going to start it at $15,500.00 based on some of the similar truck pricing I'm seeing.
Specs:
'88 Toyota 4Runner
Currently 231k on the ticker
22re was rebuilt in '05 or so, head gasket later replaced at 186k
TG header and 2-1/4" exhaust - looks like a Flowmaster on it, series 50 I'd guess. I know he's replaced the catalytic in the past 5 years
5-speed trans that was sent in and completely rebuilt by Marlin Crawler a few years back
I put a new Aisin clutch package in when I built it in '14 - I'd assume that's still in there now
Dual xfer cases with 2.28 in each - not positive, but I want to say it was a TG adapter
Standard Toyota drivelines that were lengthened/shortened to work
TG 4" leaf springs front and rear
Front axle is a stock width TG Rock Assault housing with longfields, High Pinion 5.29s and Detroit locker - axle setup and installed by Yotamasters a few years ago
Rear axle is stock IFS housing with tampon armor welded to the diff, stock shafts, V6 5.29s and Detroit locker
Front frame all plated and gusseted to front crossmember, front crossmember plated with 3/16" in front where bumper welded to it
Rancho 9000 shocks front and rear
Custom front and rear bumpers, built by me - 1-3/4" DOM - rear bumper has receiver hitch welded in
Custom rock sliders, built by me - 1-3/4" DOM - main tube sleeved with .120 wall 1-1/2" tube
Clean rig, stock interior with run of the mill stereo. It's only got about 10k miles on it since I did all the work to it. I think it's good to go as-is, although most people would probably be best off upgrading the shocks and putting a roll cage in it. The front springs feel like they need a leaf added - not much uptravel and feels soft, although had a lot of uptravel when I first built it (I set it up similar to my 4600 truck). Overall in good shape, clean, ready to drive or wheel. He hasn't driven it that much over the past 10 years, mostly just stored in his garage.
