Moving this on over for criticism and critiques.

have had this truck since Feb 2010 and it has had a few different steps along its lifetime to get where it is now.

On to the 3 Link, Automatic, Atlas, Beadlocks and Full Hydro.

I went with a Junkyard A340F from an 02 Tacoma and Atlas II 4.3 with an AA 50-5710 adapter. Changed the trans filter and shift solenoids for good measure. Ill be using the Rad Designs Rock shifter and Baja shifter to manually control the Auto.

Big ol gaping hole in the floor. The blue hoses are the Atlas vent and Trans cooler lines.

I fabbed up a floor cover. I tried to keep all 4 shifters in relatively the same location.

PSC full Hydro

Orbital position with some core support trimming.

IMG_0074.jpg

Blue Torch Ram Mount was way too tall and had to be cut down to optimize the steering arm angles. I added some additional length to the top to utilize 4 Ram clamps.

IMG_0253.jpg

Finished product with the PSC XR 2.5 x 8" Ram and some 1.5" DOM .25 WT runners notched to fit the base of the mount. The steering arms are from Barnes 4WD and are still a little more exposed than I would like. I still may add some additional tube to protect them down the road. FYI the older clamps (black bolts) have a fine thread pitch and the newer ones (silver bolts) are coarse thread. I don't know why PSC changed these..

Just thought I would share some of the pics from my front 3 Link. I sacrificed a little by not redoing the front frame rails and mounting my upper link out side of the DS frame rail. Does it work?...Yes. Could it have been designed and executed Better? Yes. The majority of all the brackets and mounts used were from Artec Industries.

I had to move each of the shock hoops forward and angled them back approximately 9 degrees. I added some scab plates to the frame mount areas.

Pass Side coilover mock up. 14" travel Foxes with 14" 150lb uppers and 16" 225 lb lower springs from Ryan @Accutine Offroad.

Final installation.. I ended up with 5" up travel and 9" of down travel. 25.5" frame height.
Eibach bumps installed on the coilover shafts. Brake lines are routed down each of the lower links

I had to tear in the the front end a while back to replace some broken fasteners. So I just spent a little more and upgraded a few other things.
Solid Industries 35 spline drive flanges, all new Spicer seals, Spicer knuckle studs, ARP Steering studs and a set of Reid Racing KP knuckles.

I had them powder coated wrinkle red. I need to recheck all of the fasteners then take a hot lap around my block and scare some kids.

And a new set of Red Lug nuts since they were 2 bucks cheaper than the black ones for the set

Took a trip to Moab with some buddies at the end of September. It is such an awesome place to wheel. Can't wait to go back.
Had a problem or 2 along with all of the rigs in the group but we wheeled all day, wrenched all night and repeated the next day.
My casualties included: hole in one of my reds, rear brake caliper, PS pump on its way out, alternator smoked. All addressed and band aided for the trip.

Such a memorable first experience in Moab.

Thanks man. That was all my buddy Nathan.

I realized during my trip to Moab that the truck needs a little more pep under the hood. The 22re runs well but has power issues with the single TC, Tons and Stickies.

I kicked around all sorts or powerplants and wasted a lot $$ changing my mind. (1UZ and LS ) I'm going back to my original plan of an RZ since it will work with my current A340F and maintain my pass drop Atlas II.

So I have been gathering parts and spending money for a 2RZ turbo swap now. My buddy had an 01 2RZ sitting in his shop so I went and picked it up. Ill start with stock ECU management and try to run 8 psi on it with some 320cc pink tops and a Chinese T3/T4 turbo with and a Turbosmart 44 mm Wastegate. Ill be adding an AEM AFR gauge, Turbosmart adjustable FPR and generic Boost gauge while I am at it to keep everything trimmed out. It may not be the most cost effective route but it will package better and still have Toyota reliability.

Can't wait to see the details of the RZ swap!!

one of the huge plus sides to the rz swap is it is so similar to the 22re in weight and dimensions. Chilkats motor mounts make it a bolt in swap. I had to limit my uptravel a bit and some other very minor details but overall im very happy with it.

Ultimately that's the reason I decided on the RZ swap. similar dimensions an basically a bolt in swap.

RZ swap is something I'll have to look into. I'm assuming you can still run an AW4 behind them with the correct bellhousing?

I've been cleaning up the 2RZ and ordering parts for the time being. New seals, hardware, rear sump oil pan, alternator, PSC TC steering pump, ChillKat pump bracket, new Motor mounts, new pulleys, water pump, fuel pressure regulator, plugs, turbo manifold, turbo oil feed line, ignition coils, a lot of scraping, some broken studs, repairs, and some paint. The idea is to have this engine issue free before it goes into the truck. The parts list is getting shorter: RZ bell for the A340, Torque Conv, Wideband O2, gauges, T3 Turbo, 45mm wastegate and 30mm BOV. Should have all that in hand by January after I recoup from Christmas... then its time to get tackle the wiring. I have a spare 22re Harness and the 2RZ harness, ECM to get all spliced together. I still may throw a set of studs and a new HG in for good measure.

Definitely in to see how the turbo build goes.

I'm considering eventually changing my current 2RZ/G54/Single 4.7 case to 2RZ-turbo/A340/duals of some type. Definitely would want to piece together a cheaper turbo setup as opposed to something like the LCE $$$ kit. What's your plan for the turbo itself? Is it a junkyard T3, or China, or ???

I read somewhere that the 2RZ + A340 needs a 5VZ torque converter. I wonder if the 3RZ + A340 converter the same part number? I don't know if Toyota ever sold a 2RZ + auto trans...

I have a Junkyard Turbo and was looking at a Precision 5431. May just try a China Turbo to start and keep the cost down. I currently have a TC from a 3.4. Was going to try that first. If not, find another that works. This turbo shit adds up ha ha.

Man, it's a rabbit hole for sure. That 3.4 TC should hopefully work, and it would be nice for me because most A340s in good shape are coming from 3.4 trucks.
