My younger BIL is building a 73 Chevy C/K20 He got it when it was completely torn apart and he is slowly putting it all back together.

He added a small body lift to it and the steering shaft is now a couple inches too short. We were just going to cut it and make it longer but after looking at it the bearings are shot and it’s just plain old.

I’m trying to find a new steering shaft that’s long enough to reach but not having much luck.

Anyone here know where I can find one? Needs to be about 21” long.

Bearings?

Those are in the column.

Xj or get a borgeson kit for about $400

And as stinkeye said. Bust the 2 halfs loose and pull it out some.

Looking into the XJ shaft but how do you convert from one to the other.

On his Chevy it has a plate that bolts to the plate on his steering box.

We have had really bad winds and power was out for 21hrs yesterday.

That plate is part of the rag joint.

Take the entire rag joint off the steering box.
Sbox.for the column end.
install the entire xj steering shaft with no rag joint
