Academic question:
Are these gear ratios too far apart to be used together?

The 6.17 being in a front Dana 60/6.14 in a rear Dana S135

Intended vehicle: 2021 Ford F-600 :grinpimp:

No considering you won’t be running on dry pavement with hubs locked

No, i'd run that combo no problem.

Mathematically they’re only 1/2% apart. Most say 10-15% is max. You won’t even notice.
+/- 1% is the standard.

Never heard 10% before. That would suggest it’s ok to mix 4.56 and 4.10 gears.

Is that a HP60 like the rest of the Super Duty trucks? If so, I don't think 6.17 is even an option.

You'll be fine. I've run 4.56 and 4.63 ratios for 10 years and even in 4low, both axles locked, turned full lock I couldn't notice it on dry pavement.

As mentioned, that's no where near enough to worry. No matter what the surface is.

There was another thread about this recently.

Also, 6.17s are not available for Hp60s fwiw.

There's millions of TTB F150s and Broncos driving around with 3.05/3.08 which is a substantially greater difference than 6.14/6.17

The gear difference is intentional, so the front pulls (and steers better than) the rear. At least, that's the thought I quasi remember on the old board.
