Do you know if the wiring harness inside of the transmission is the same? I ordered this from napa prolink, says it's for a 4L80-E on the website, instructions say 4L60-E.

Ordered this kit. The transmission takes forever to go in gear if it has been sitting over night, apparently that is from a leaking torque converter solenoid letting the oil leak out of the torque converter.

Should be here the 20th because that's what I paid for, tracking number says 24th:mad3: pissing me the fuck off.

thought that was just the normal GM thing where you move the shift lever and it responds either immediately or a half hour later
depending entirely upon the position of the stars and your horoscope and if you washed your socks

keep meaning to block off all the accumulators on the 4t65 I converted to full manual, so that it'll actually fucking go into what gear I want with at least a predictable delay

Sauce? I thought the only torque converter related solenoid was the tcc pwm one, can't see how that would be able to do that? I belive it, I just can't picture it.

I thought that it was normal to because this truck has always done it EDIT: even after it was rebuilt. It also makes a sound like air is moving through liquid after you start it, I guess that is it.

Well it happens on the 4l60e I assume that much is the same source is that paper that came in the first kit, in the first post.

Truck would be in second with the selector in 4 or 3 it would start out in second. Upon testing the internal wiring harness while still in the transmission I wasn't getting continuity to the solenoids removing the internal harness and testing directly to the solenoids continuity looked good, I wanted to just throw a harness at it, but would hate to do so and find out that there is something mechanically wrong with the solenoids :homer:. This is our main service truck and it fucking sucks not having it. The transmission otherwise seems fine.

The external wiring harness was destroyed from a blown ex collector gasket. The transmission shop did not attach the harness back to the back of the block so it rode right next to the collector. I got a harness from pick n pull and finished installing it today.

I resheilded the back sensor wire with aluminum foil that I trimmed down to ¾" and repaired the drain wire for it.

If you zoom in you can see the main harness splice.
1000045880.jpg

I used scotch 33+ to insulate the shielded wire.
1000045880.jpg

The wires are a little longer than stock, incase it needs future repairs, I can just buy pins and connectors instead of pigtails.
1000045885.jpg

All high temp uv rated conduit.
1000045886.jpg

My previous repairs when I didn't have the correct parts and someone replaced the pigtail at one time.

1000045895.jpg

The internal harness also leaked transmission fluid through the inside of the plug socket and the aftermarket wiring doesn't hold up good to transmission fluid that and price were the main reasons for not buying a aftermarket external harness.

They overnighted me another kit for free, with the expectation that I send the second kit that arrives back.

My sprinter does that. Pop it into reverse, rev to the moon, with no action, wait for it to reorganize, then try again. I sure like standing up in it though.

5.7 vortec mid 90s with headers? :grinpimp:
Oh, I guess that may have been important information :homer:.
The truck that I am working on is a 1993 c3500 c&c 5.7 tbi 4L80-E 14b rear, the replacement harness from pnp is from a mid 90s ¾ or 1 ton van 5.7 vortec 4L80-E 14b rear.

I made the new harness a little long:homer:, but everything is routed away from the exhaust.

Little self tapper:shaking:.
1000046027.jpg

Old sensors and pressure switch.
1000046028.jpg

It took more atf than the book says that it holds, I assume that the transmission oil cooler drained too.
Edit: everything works as should.

Oh, and the codes all of this started with.
Transmission Trouble Codes.jpg

Grendel or trampas could either of you move this to gm brand specific tech? Thank-you.
