Did it already have an insert on it? Got a pic? The normal timesert is a little bigger than the parts store thread savers.

I'll get a picture tomorrow. The instert was threaded on the sparkplug when it popped out. The plug did something neat to, the entire plug can freely spin separately from the threads and nut.

It came out still threaded together

loctite it to a fresh plug and run it back in doesn’t look bad in the picture . What you don’t want to see is the insert blown out where a leak caused it to melt away the insert and damage the threads .

One of the cylinders felt questionable, I'd like to do a insert before it blows a plug far from home. Should I do a standard insert or the same bigger one?

I just fixed one a couple weeks ago that blew out the insert and plug, I had somebody make me an oversize insert and it ended up being 20mm x 1.25 , I just tapped the plug hole put some JB on it and it's going.
I wish I would've found that one on ebay it would've saved a bunch of time.

That looks like a cal van insert. If there are threads in the head get some permanent thread locker and put it back in. If there are no threads, your in a pickle.
