.22 long availability.

All I saw at Sportsman’s in PDX on Friday was the little boxes of “22 Quiet” for $3+/box and a one box limit. I was there for powder and got the 1 lb limit and left. Nearly all common powder, primers, bullets, ammo were wiped out. Bimart has been out of 22lr and the usual calibers for 3+ months. Good luck.

A few possibilities:
1. He has a really old gun in .22 long
2. He's hipster as fuck and only shoots .22 long because it's obscure and it stokes his ego any time someone notices
3. He's simply too stupid to know that .22 long and .22 long rifle are different cartridges

I typed "long'' to specify I didn't want "Magnum" or "quiet" or any other weird variant. Figured you sportsmen would know that I wanted 'long rifle' but alas there's always one idiot out there who's trying to qet hyper-specific when the rest of us are being generic. ... anyhow, I'm still looking and if anyone has the inside scoop on when .22 LR (and 223 /556) is going to become readily available, or, any big-box stores have it in supply?

And just like in the last seven or eight panic seasons, it's not fucking out there in some secret store that hasn't been cleaned out yet.
 
I wouldn’t count on .22lr until next year. March or later probably. It’s always the last round made because they make the least amount of money on it.
 
Sadly, .22lr availability was a lesson best learned about two panics ago. Even if a "big box" store usually has it, it was sold long BEFORE it was unloaded off of the truck. LGS/indoor range I frequent was selling 325 or 500 rnd bricks for $50 about a week ago and that ammo was moving fast. Even the LGS was low on the choices of the rental guns they usually display as most of them had been sold too.


You're probably a little late to the party regardless of choice of ammo now.
