2020 violence and 2nd amendment

Historically, most active defenders of the 2nd amendment tended to be on the right, the "Obama is going to take your guns" crowd. Now a lot of people all across the political spectrum are seeing that the police may not be coming to protect them at all (thanks to progressive local governments that will tolerate a high degree of violence, as long as they sympathize with those being violent). Even the most liberal people are flocking to buy guns for self protection.

What effect is this going to have on future attempts to erode the 2nd amendment?

Myself, I'm not all that optimistic, since people have very short memories. I think this is just a temporary reprieve and we'll go back to the usual "guns are evil" the moment a democrat is in the White House.

Left wing Dems are liars and back stabbers... I'm not talking about normal people here, the left extremists are flocking to buy guns. In a while they will come out and say that all right wing conservatives need to lose their gun rights, while advocating for leftist to procure guns by any method necessary, even illegal means will be fine for them. When the buy backs come, they will hide theirs, help other lefties hide their's, and turn in all the conservatives they know who own guns.... even if they just went out target shooting with you the day before. This is their plan, they are executing it very swiftly and learning to use them efficiently. Unless we, as conservatives start getting into our local govs and start stacking the deck in our favor...all might be lost within 10 years.

This is how they think, if they tell you otherwise, they are lying to your face. I really am not talking about normal thinking Americans,(which can be left and right) I'm talking extremist, and there are far more than you want to believe.
 
My mom is about as left as they come. The only thing she doesn't do is take any action. About once every three months we have a really good argument where we agree to disagree. I think the only reason it doesn't turn into screaming or blows is because we are related.

When the Claremont fire was bearing down on her house and she evacuated, I told her to grab her husband's guns. She was like "yeah, nah" I just grabbed the one I will need to protect myself. His can burn.

Most here think(and welcome) a civil war is coming...i think it will be more like a revolutionary War if we wait for it. The only decisive action is to get active in our local governments, and fix this from the bottom up. It's exactly what the commies have done to us, while we slept, thinking we were safe. We're not safe anymore. Let that sink in:usa:
 
@OP. The police have zero legal obligations to protect you as ruled by the SCOTUS on multiple occasions.

I think that 15-25% of new gun owners on the left will become true 2nd amendment supporters. This should be enough to give some stability to the 2nd assuming we don't fall into civil war like the progressives want before then.

FUCK 2020 and all the progressives on both sides of the aisle.
 
They need to abolish all state handgun laws. The federal laws and the constitution should be the law of the land. You look at all the violence in liberal states, and how many worthless blacks and unemployed bums and criminals have easy access to guns, yet someone who goes to work and pays taxes is subjected to an impossible six-month process to get the same guns they now NEED to defend themselves since the police are being defunded. Democrat laws and policies always favor criminals; not law-abiding citizens.

There is a simple way to track what the democrats are up to. All you have to do is listen to what Pelosi, Schumer, and Schiff accuse Trump of doing. Whatever they accuse Trump of doing, is what they are doing.

disagree, the federal laws are flat abusive.

the state laws need to largely go away, the federal laws need to outright disappear and federal interpretive agencies need to focus on constitutional basic human rights protections to ensure the states don't infringe on the rights of the people and that, in turn, the cities don't infirnige
 
There may be a few converts to true 2a. I think most will end up putting their new gun away in the closet and changing their mind will never even be a thought.

He'll get off on the under age charge because there's no age requirement in the 2a.

Plus it should provide some sort of protection for an AR with 30rd mags.

Shows that a Milita isn't some sort of club, but that they are formed at the drop of a hat by normal people when they are needed.
 
I am in CA, the wifeys friends are pretty much all lefties. Which is fine, I respect their opinions, but several called the first weekend of the riots when minneapolis was burning and asked to borrow a gun :rolleyes: to which I responded 'sorry that is now illegal... I have some pepper spray you can have' :homer: "That does not do anything" :flipoff2:

I convinced 2 to actually commit to buy and sent them off to a local gun shop. Long story short, neither ended up buying one after realizing the cost associated and all the hoops you had to jump through

It did not derail them off the bernie train, but they have a different opinion on 2a.

pay for gun
come back in 10 days to pick up

if that seems too complicated for them, they probably arent mentally competent of owning one.

This proved to be the case. They had/have zero experience, did not know what an 'action' is or the types of actions or how to make a firearm safe. The extent of firearm knowledge does not go past watching the matrix. In that respect, I am glad they were denied. They also showed up to gun shop without any form of address verification, so they would have to make multiple trips to complete the DROS - and were also unaware of 10 day wait. And to top it off, they thought a gun could be had - same day - for under $200.
 
So the idiots voting on gun laws think you just go in with 200 bucks and walk out with a gun.. well damn, no wonder they are voting in laws, Id probably vote too if I thought that :homer:

Plenty of countries have had several civil wars. China has probably had 500 civil wars.

Well, to be fair, that's how buying a gun ought to be. I used to buy guns in parking lots from people that look at least as sketchy as I do all the fuckin' time before FTF transfers were made illegal in WA, once or twice a seller wanted to see my CPL or my driver's license but most of the time we didn't catch eachother's names, I had over money they hand over a gun.

meh, you only think it ought to be that way because as rights get taken away people become more ignorant. i think we should go back a couple of era's of gun law... sure a couple of karens are gonna do some dumb shit and suffer the consequences, but thats the way it should be.

ignorance isn't innocence and law isn't meant to protect the the ignorance. thats not the way it ought to be

Question, whats to stop a felon from buying one? I suppose I lived in CA my whole life and it became the norm to me, and you are right.
