Middle of nowhere
So the country is being set up for a MAJOR shit show at primary time, and I'm not sure how I see the country responding.

So here's what I see happening -

The Supreme Court has already set the path. They said it's legal for the state to penalize their electorates for voting against the states directions. Now the state can force the ELECOTRAL COLLEGE to vote as they request (presumably a state could force them to vote opposite the election).

Several states have signed the Popular vote compact. The ability to force electorates to vote per the states request, giving the PVC the ability to exist in the voting system by just telling their electorates to vote Biden, regardless of the state results. This has been LEGALIZED by the above SCOTUS decision.

Several of these states have already passed mail in voting as well. Millions upon millions of ballots are being mailed out very soon in these states unsolicited. We already have absentee voting, so the only reason to mail in votes is for nefarious reasons. (just see how many have received multiple ballots previously)

None of these things matter independently, but together they have set the stage for a stolen presidency. Here's how.

Mail in voting gets a shit ton of votes, presumably heavily democratic.

Trump wins some of the states that are in contention, and by LEGAL means, he wins the election hands down.

But WAIT!!! All those mail in ballots have weighed the voting like it did last time (but even larger numbers), with TONS of D votes from CA and NY, which, due to sheer numbers, outpaces all other metrics, and shows Biden got the popular vote.

NOW, all those states that have signed the pact, EVEN THE STATES TRUMP TURNED, regardless of what THEIR states election results say, force their electorates to vote Biden. (remember, SCOTUS has already made it legal)

This situation turns the electoral collage to Biden unconstitutionally.

LET THE SHOW BEGIN! :eek::eek:

What then? Where do we stand as a country?

The Dem pair that has been put forth leans SO far left that it's scary. To top it off, Biden is showing signs of failing, which could leave who as president? All she has to do is force him to take a few tests, and I bet he's declared unable to fulfill his position.

Let's face it, I don't think the Democratic party really wanted Biden to be where he is now (kinda the sense I got from the caucuses). I'm betting Harris was their top pick, which is now (possibly) only a couple exams away from happening.

ps. Would that possibly put Pelosi as VP???????:nuke:

I don't think shit-show is a strong enough word for what's fixin to happen.

I think the election is going to be bigly contested.... No matter what.

It's coming fast too.

SCOTUS ruled that States can remove or penalize EC delegates that don't vote for the states popular vote winner. It doesn't give states the ability to force EC delegates to vote against the peoples wishes. It was a unanimous decision and would lead me to believe that any other kind of chicanery would be dealt with swiftly by scotus.

The popular vote compact is totally unconstitutional, and doesn't even come into play until they get enough states to equal 270 votes. I do think it would be awesome if Trump wins the popular vote and there is a call for all the states that signed it to give him their EC votes.

This election will be a shit show for sure, but I don't think the EC will be a contributor.

I don't have the exact wording, but does it say per the states vote, or does it say per the states direction? aka, the PVC? As far as I know, there are more states considering the PVC.

ps - did a little reading, and admittedly considering the above scenario makes things even muddier. The winning party picks the EC. I guess it's who the state declares the winner is?

the popular vote state pacts that most or all states have signed won't have any effect until something like 2/3 of the states in the union adopt similar, so I doubt that nefarious scheme will be of import this year.

however, with Trump inevitably losing the popular vote again, it will make popular vote pacts show up on more state ballots over the next 4 years

I'm not even sure why they calculate the popular vote. It just leads to sour grapes from people who slept through Civics Class.

To bring unrest.

It works!

Wife was confused why I didn't care that Hillary or Al Gore for that matter won the Popular Vote. It literally didn't matter and I hope it remains so. The system was carefully crafted to NOT be a popularity contest because of demographic imbalance between the States.

Yup, and it should stay that way.

Republicans haven't rioted yet.. When they do, that's when the real fun begins.

The whole PVC is unconstitutional and disenfranchises voters.
