2020 gardens

Green beans are popping up by the hundreds. This is the 3rd and 4th bed of beans this season. Peppers still peppering and broccoli is starting to get big. Tomatoes on their last leg but still have a bunch of fruit yet to ripen.

Temps dropped into the 30s last night we had sideways rain and some snow wrapped everything that was still growing, but this morning saw some of them had come uncovered. Temp is just up to 33 snd they are calling for a high of 40!

We had a frost last night which ended all the summer crops. My kale, carrots, beets, spinach, and peas are still hanging in there. We got a good harvest out of what was left.

The next two days I will be putting down a couple inches of compost on the spent beds then top with mulched leaves. They should be ready for planting come spring.

Spent two days pulling plants, spreading compost, and topping beds with leaves. Most of the beds are set for spring but just got a few more to do that are still growing crops.

What did you line the beds with?

Does it need to be a warm house? We don’t keep our house very warm.

No idea, we just put stuff that isnt ripe wrapped up in a paper bag tucked back in the corner of the counter or in a drawer. 90% of the time when we remember it's over ripened and mushy, 9% of the time it isnt quite ready, and 1 out of 100 its perfect.

But for all I know it would do the same without a paper bag :lmao:. It does seem to speed up the process though
