What's new

-2016 VS 2017+ F350 with 6.7

...
$20k is another truck. $30k is a nice truck. What makes an alumidooty worth $30k more value wise?
Exactly, that is my whole point, in fairness, it is $10k between similar trucks, one with steel body and one with aluminum but newer.

The biggest changes I see in the newer trucks are 360 camera and blind spot detection. Othewise I am not sure the value difference.

Yes no more rust is great, but the suspension will still wear out just as fast. so will the weather stripping, the seats and tires.

waiting on the salesman now. Not sure I will get an answer back today.

Pinzguy Has and regularly drives one of each. He can probably comment on any nitpicky differences between them. I just have to text him so he gets on to respond.

He texted me so here I am, I've got a 2014 ccsb f250 lariat at the time if writing 320k miles and a 2022 cclb dually king ranch at the time of writing 22k miles and a bad back. The f250 seats recline further if sleeping in the truck is important to you, and the 10 speed is pretty goofy in stock form especially with 4.10 axle ratio when driving like an ass. The new dually rides 5x better than the 250 it's as different as going from an obs f250 to the 14 f250, and really gets out of it's own way better. If you are over 5 foot 11 you may wish the head rest didn't lean forward, I had to turn mine around as sitting straight the head rest pointed my head at the guages. Higher trim optics only come with the sunroof.

I agree it's not worth it technically or economically speaking.

When I bought my '18 my 15year old son was giving me shit about not getting the Platinum and I showed him the Platinum was not worth the $20k difference between the Lariat Ultimate.

Fast forward the gap is much smaller, if I can get $70k for my truck and I owe $15k that puts me in a brand new truck with a $27k note.
And I will still be potentially money ahead again to do it in 2 more years if the insanity continues.

How does the 4.10 do at highway speeds? My 6 speed 4.10 is too high RPM for my liking, I am hoping the 3.55 doesn't give up too much torque.

Great info guys I really apprciate it. After all the searching and comparing I am going with a 2016 F250 Platinum. 18k miles. $61k.

Basically what it came down to is to buy a 17 or newer I felt like I was scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something comperable to what I have.
Where as with the 16 model I can buy the very tippy top best of the best remaining out there and still spend less money.
The pickup is almost identical to what I have and what I have I loved and was amazing when it was new. Tight, quiet. Rode amazing. I expect the same out of this used one as I would a brand new one. I of course will drive it first before I go pick it up.
Also at that number I can swing that, no need to be in a hurry or getting a certain number out of my old one.

So next dilemma. Sell/trade my 14?

Or cut the back off and weld on an excursion?
It actually looks pretty simple to turn it into a 6.7 excursion. Can get a rust free excursion body for $1k. Both of my boys drive excursions and know them well enough.
Paint the plastic, buy some carpet. Only thing left is 3rd row seat and headliner.

I didn't see 6.7 Excursion in my crystal ball LOL
That seems like a pretty large commitment to a project. It would be the Excursion we never got though. :smokin:

In the back of my mind that was always a possibility. Ulterior motive that I didn't want to share. I have two boys that both drive excursions. That would be their dream truck, a 6.7 lariat excursion.

It would be something I could do with them before I die. Build one with one son, and maybe another in 5 years or so.

Brilliant idea and a hell of a thing to do with them.
I loved mine but the drivetrain is antiquated for real heavy towing.
A fully deleted coil sprung, 6.7/6R140 powered X would be bitchin.
