Looking at picking up a 2005 Superduty for parts (specifically, doors as the bottom foot of the doors on our 2002 flap in the wind), from what I see they should fit (physically), should they be electrically compatible, or should I plan on swapping the 2002 harness into the 2005 doors?

Also, the 2005 I am looking at has a keypad in the door, will that work with the 2002 (which has keyfob remotes), or will that not work?
I see various keypads that say they work up to 2010, but I am not sure if that is the same as what is on the door currently.

Thanks

They will physically fit that I definitely know. The keypad thing I can’t help with, most likely you’ll be putting the old harness into the new doors. I’ve never had a keypad that worked lol so no knowledge there

So worse case I have to swap the door harnesses and replace the keypad with the adhesive one that was a retrofit option for the 2002.
That would be a pain, but it wouldn't be terrible.

Piggyback question, do 02 doors have the wire for heated mirrors or am I running one when I swap for newer mirrors.

Pretty sure that 04 was the last year of the earlier chassis harnesses, mine is an 01 and I saw a lot of 04 cutoff when searching for chassis electrical parts. But swapping the harnesses is no big deal.

The keypad might need the truck to have the factory keyless entry system installed and running. I could be wrong though.

I can look when this happens.

Makes sense, I saw some of the same cutoffs looking around before I started this thread but was unsure which were .

The earlier keypad does require that, fortunately our 2002 has keyfob remotes so it should be fine.

For future reference, per jetskier on Dieselstop

99 through 01 the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) turns off the remotes when the key is in any position other than OFF. That is ACC, RUN or START.
02 and up they use the VSM (Vehicle Security Module) and the remotes work regardless of ignition position.

So, I will see about getting the 2005 and see where we go from there. If the wired one can be made to work (easily), great. If not, I will replace it with a wireless one.
