What's new

2005 Escalade EXT (aka GMT 800 argument thread)

they look like china ebay parts- the fact that the fitment lists both denali and non- denali is highly suspect to men since denalis are differently shaped.

I haven't been able to find a set of projectors that isn't a ricer/fast&furious special with halos & shit

OEM denali were projector housings, but you have to swap to a denali grill with the kidney bean/teardrop turn signals.
See, you knew more than me:laughing:

Didn't solve my shit headlights, but probably saved me from buying China specials

The chinas arent a issue.

Denali is the same as gmc picks

Denali does not interchange with non- Denali
(Edit- I’ll be damned- it looks like the Internet forums say the headlight housings will fit a non-Denali grill. My memory must be failing me because I could swear I played that game of legos at the pick and pull once upon a time and it didn’t work, but it’d be worth a try for $130 shipped for a pair from rock auto including bulbs.)

Installed Denali headlights in my '07 Classic, they fit, markers do not unless you swap grill and buckets.

I shoe horned Morimoto Bi-LED Projectors into these new OEM Denali housings, it is the single best mod to the truck and I have done a lot. Being able to see that well at night is priceless.

They replaced a set of "custom made" HID projectors that cost over a thousand dollars new and these LED's just destroy them.

Last pic is one handed in the rain but shows the light throw, I never have oncoming traffic flash at my low beams, the cut off is crisp.

Do you remember which bits you bought for the retrofit? Get em from theretrofit scource?

See you're going to convince me to do the project I just didn't want to do anyway :flipoff2:

I could build another set pretty quick a second time. Let me get you some info on how to do it, has been 3 years I can't remember.

I bought a flat plate, you can see it in the pic, but had to open it up, and plastic fuze part of it together. They are rock solid both survived the deer impact. They are on my shelf while I swap my frame. I'll get you info.

$127 shipped via eBay for a pair of depo(aftermarket) Denali projector housings loaded with bulbs, I can confirm they are plug & play and even the stock halogen bulbs are a pretty drastic improvement. I think it was money pretty well spent.

Interestingly, The projector low beam uses the same bulb as the stock high beam. and I don’t have any leds in that size to try out;

Low beams; (door is 48’ wide)

Looks like ebay listing is sold out; Rock auto was actually a couple bucks cheaper than ebay but slower shipping commitment and I had an upcoming trip departure that I wanted them in time for.
The rock auto listing is 'various manufacturer' which info says will end up being DEPO/TYC, etc ( select 6.0 as the engine and it will filter down to Denali projectors.)

the Ebay listing I bought also didnt specify brands and was listed as 'OE comparable/ OE replacement', but had a Depo logo on the pictured housing, and Depo boxes were what showed up. ( i suspect that the ebay seller likely may have drop shipped from the rock auto warehouse source.)

Alright, is getting dark around here early, all my driving is starting to be in the dark, and my headlights aren't impressive:laughing: So I'm buying shit to do this project in the next weekend or two. Just wanted to run my parts list past you

Things I need to buy:
Set of gmt800 GMC Denali projectors ~$112
Morimoto H1s & 5k bulbs ~ $180
2001-2006 GMC Yukon Denali MH1 8.0 / Micro D2S Retrofit C-Bracket ~$60

So for $360 I can get bitching lights? I might be missing the HID ballasts?

It looks like you did a different projector though since you did LED not bi-xenon? I don't see an H1 size led option. Did you make your own mounting bracket or Dremel out the light and glue in your new projector.

Edit: looks like you used this kit:
