What's new

2002 TuRD

I wouldn't say mine was 1 finger, but running big rocks, it would steer like a stock vehicle on flat gravel. With the exception of like the whole tire up against a wall with traction, but my full hydro was the same way.
Overall it was worth while, I guess I was just expecting more with the way people I was wheeling with were hyping it up. I do like that it stays nice and cool, will be neat to see how it does in a few months wheeling when it's 95*+ out

I like hydro assist but it's not as awesome as people were making it out to be, maybe I hyped it up in my head.

every time I get in the xtracab (from the doublecab, ford, etc)... I find the steering to be way too light... it's one pinky easy.

See on the road mine very heavy now, I kind of like it better as that Ford box was light on the street.

The ram was leaking, I ordered a new one after fucking up the gland tool and the fitting trying to break the end loose to reseal it. Maybe that was it

Went wheeling at Harlan in KY last weekend. The truck kept popping off the pax side ram hose, after the 3rd time I swapped out the 45* fitting for a 90* fitting and it was fine for the rest of the 2days. Sucked because I went through like 2qts of swepco and bought an extra qt off a dude on the trail:laughing:. Glad I had that radial dynamics res as it was basically no bleeding despite almost totally draining the system 3times:smokin:. I had snowy drive it on the street and confirmed the steering is working as it should as I have no point of reference, I just need to move the clamp a bit as the ram is out extending the box steering pax. Other than that the truck worked great, rode smooth bombing down the connecting trails at 15-20mph, so that was awesome, it rode like a tank pre moving the axle forward. I did some more body damage and finished off a taillight, and of course barely any pics were taken over the weekend lol.

So what's the new hotness in winch ropes these days? Is custom splice still going? I need to replace my winch drum due to rust and prob alt toss a new rope on it as it's almost 10yrs old now.

JM Rigging is supposed to be good stuff.

Bebop any insights?

When I replaced the winch rope in the juggy, I just grabbed whatever was sitting on the shelf at Harbor Freight as I needed the rope for a trip the next day. It held up great for me with minimal actual use (90% of its use was as a suck down winch) but never had to use it for long/hard pulls etc.

I always just buy a line and put a crush proof thimble on it myself. It's winch rope no sense in taking it in the brown eye for something that's expendable. My home built line was better than the POS TG line I won at a raffle.

That's also my thinking.
But if you want to pay for quality, I think these are the best:

Prepare your anus

so do save your old line. i been playing around with mine and making line extensions. so much easier than dragging 30 plus foot of strap .

I just did back to back wheeling trips. Last week was AOP in TN and this weekend was Golden mountain in TN. Truck worked great! I hope they open golden mountain for good as I want to go back as there are a ton of obstacles I want to try when it's less crowded and I have some spotters that I trust!

Muddy rocks and trees have got to be more forgiving than... Just...Fuckin' rocks...

Right?

I'm actually seriously tempted. Google says 20hr drive... I'll bet I can do it in either 16, or 30
