I've been tasked with selling one of these...it was my FIL's truck, and he's recently passed from the kung flu. The thing is super nice and in amazing condition, drives well, no idiot lights, etc, but has 323k on the clock. How do I tell what motor it has? I can't find anything to indicate if it's a 5.3 or a 6.0. It's a half ton, so the 5.3 is much more likely....but want to be sure when I list it.

Also, anyone looking for a super clean burb? It's had one new trans in its life, original motor. Uses a little oil, but has been garaged its whole life, and I have all the service records going back forever....

Then again, you Irates are a bunch of lowballers....haha

Just bought one that was totaled due to deer strike for 800.00. new grill and trans cooler and it looks like new. 180k miles. 2003 model. 5.3 in this one.

Lowballers? That thing has 323k miles on it. Thats a $2k burb at best and thats only if everything but the drivers seat aint worn out.

8th # of the VIN? T=5.3 U=6.0 etc.

Rpo codes in the glovebox, it could be a 4.8 or 5.3, as only the Denali had the 6.0.

That's a $1000 vehicle in the real world. You could probably get $5k if you're ok sitting on it awhile.

Those are $1500-2000 around here at most.

Post pics. I domt care about the mileage if its been taken care of.

If you get $2k you did great.

No it couldnt be a 4.8 unless some schmekel put a junkyard motor in it but he said original motor. 2002 1500 Yukon XLs and Suburbans HAD a 5.3. It was the only option for the NON Denali 1500. The Denali 1500 had a 6.0. 2500s had either a 6.0 or an 8.1.

That started in 03. In 00-02 you could get all sorts of off the wall shit. It took them a couple years to get it standardized.

The 2500's were available with the 5.3 in 02 also :flipoff2:

According to alldata and my recollection as a GM master tech, you could get 3 motors in the Yukon: 4.8, 5.3, FFV 5.3. Almost no one got the 4.8, though.

thats as gay as my f350 with a 5.4

Try taking it to carmax or get on auto trader and get a quote. They are buying anything with wheels right now and offering decent deals.

Pros: Straight shot, one and done out the door. Probably will get a decent price. Not dealing with the general public and low ballers.

Cons: I'm sure there is someone out there who will pay out the nose for it, but you gotta find that person. So is it worth it to wade through the ass draggers to make and extra $2k?

I have more than one 4-5k offer already....I agree. I'd never buy it, but there's people out there that will. I need to sit on it a couple more weeks so my wife's mom can get the title sorted out and into her name. Only her dad's name is on it now, and he's passed.

If it ever had so much as a squeak, it went into the shop. They paid more than the value of the truck on repairs likely a few times over.

And as I'd said, you guys wouldn't believe the condition of the thing.....

If you can get 4-5k, jump on it and laugh all the way to the bank.
