First stupid question:

How can I get bluetooth earbuds to hook up to a computer/tv. Scenario: I have my laptop in my office hooked up to the shop tv. Audio goes from the laptop to tv via HDMI, then sound is taken from the tv via aux cable to a speaker. I would like the sound to end up in my bluetooth earbuds while I am working with hearing protection. Any way to accomplish this?

Second stupid question:

I have a 3500lb trailer hub, spindle, and bearings.I want to use it for a shooting star target, and I want it to spin as freely as possible. Grease has too much stiction, I was thinking about using a thin oil (air tool or or something of that nature). What would provide the least amount of resistance to spinning? Building another target like this.

No idea on no1 but my go to thin oil is 3n1 oil. I always keep some around for a light lube don’t know of I would trust it in the weather.

First one, just pair to your laptop still and switch the output from the laptop from HDMI to the earbuds.

Not my image, but you get the idea, click the little speaker icon:

All the production type texas stars use a shaft through double bearings and just use simple grease. Are you sure the hub solution with grease won't work? Not like there are brake shoes there causing drag.

On the laptop, get the earbud working on that without the TV hooked up. Then once you connect the HDMI, edit the settings on the laptop to not use the HDMI audio, but whatever "speaker" device the earbuds are using.

Assuming windows 10/11, the screenshot SomeGuy posted switches your whole system over to that audio source, but if you right click the sound icon down there and hit "Open Sound Settings" and scroll down to "Advanced" select "Volume mixer" and there's a more advanced mixer where you can set the audio source for individual programs.

Don't ask for the details, but I can confirm that Uber lube is very slippery and takes away almost too much friction.

This, and you can get ear protection with bluetooth built in. I have them for mowing. They are more comfortable than regular muffs with Bluetooth buds under them.

WD-40 is the thing for that right?

And yes the rest button is just pairing the laptop to the ear buds. Buy a usb Bluetooth single if it doesn't have.

I don't know why hooking them directly to the laptop never crossed my mind. Thanks

And I don't want to run them dry, they will be sitting outside. I don't know if the grease would cause too much drag, but I want that bitch to zip around. Haha. The star that I built earlier this year used reamed oilite bushings, that wasn't the ticket. It worked, but they didn't spin as nice as I wanted.

This right here. I use isotunes ear muffs. Work great and even without music playing they still provide better hearing protection than most other muffs I have tried. Speakers are very clear as well.

These have a rechargeable battery or that can be removed and 3 AAA batteries work as well.

one of the dirt track guys was talkin up some sorta super grease/lube. Made a huge difference according to him.
