Rest easy sisters.

The two dead crew members of a missing US Navy plane – the EA-18G Growler – near Mount Rainier were named on Monday morning. Lt. Cmdr. Lyndsay P. Evans, 31, was a Naval flight officer from California. Lt. Serena N. Wileman, 31, was also a Naval aviator from California. Both crew members died in the crash.

I saw that today 😕

:usa::usa:

Edit- wasn’t one of these women a pioneer in Navy aviation? (Female pilot)
Lol no. Women have been flying Naval aircraft for a lot longer than 5 or 6 years.

I know we've had female pilots for a while, even a few female A-10 pilots:smokin:

I though I read somewhere that one of these women was a "pioneer" in something Navy related. Doesn't matter, still a terrible loss :frown: :usa:

I watched a doc on the spitfire. They were interviewing a bunch of 90 year old female pilots talking about how awesome they were to fly. Turns out they used women to shuttle them from the manufacturing plant to the base where they were needed. pretty cool story.

IIRC women also ferried B-17s across the Atlantic to Britain during WW II.

Today I learned that we still have dedicated electronic warfare planes built on the F-18 platform. My Captain in JROTC in high school flew the EA-6B Prowler.

RIP Aviators.

:frown:. Mt Rainer has collected more than a few aircraft. I think it's a pretty common training area being close to McChord air base.

and they have their Low Level practice routs that snake all round that Mountain

I loved being in a dirt bike at the top of a ridge looking at the view and having a jet blitz under you close enough you can identift their helmet paint
Thinking that was the coolest thing, and here comes their wingman right after them
