What's new

1st gen Tacoma Reg cab

Do the Deavers have a part number on them? The axle/frame measurements you gave would fit my application...

I'll have to check... I do recall seeing a sticker, but I didn't pay attention.

I'll likely be in the barn later this evening and will try to grab some data.

Bear in mind on that measurement... this is an entirely non-standard setup for a 1st gen.

i bet this is your parts list for the rear with a homemade hanger in the front, you got yourself some silverado parts

is the rear hanger oddly shaped where it would bolt to the frame? they use the OEM holes but push the pivot back to make the shackle happy

IIRC, it's flat. They extended the frame down with (i think) 1.5" plate... so the bottom bolts on the shackle hangers are below the frame.

I'm not complaining.. it's just different. Maybe it works well. The airbumps on the spring are definitely not good for high speed... but I know the PO didn't do that... and I'm still suspect the shocks will run out of travel before the bumps.

Someday, I'll probably move the shocks to the axle and bumps to the spring pad... if I get bored....

sell the bumps, sell the shocks, get a bypass and peel out.

that bump will cause spring failure

This isn’t going to see any high speed…

Home Depot speed bumps and trails/rocks…

Flat grass and one ditch that runs down the middle of the parking lot.....:flipoff2:

I love how tall that pack is and they still have a small spacer:laughing:

Po had a topper and RTT… and it still sits low in the back

Edit : rhino lined topper

Anyone run a short throw shifter kit on one of these? I don't need it... don't need to spend the money... but the throw is a lot longer than I remember from my w56 days.

I have thought about it. Just to gimmee a lil more room around the cup holder. Never went through with it though.

Hope that helps:flipoff2:

I ran the Hurst/CORE short shifter on my old 95 reg cab Tacoma. I loved it and would have done it over again no question. Pretty sure I got mine off of ebay

The Marlin rear bumper made this thing look like it had a huge body lift….

So grabbed some scrap and tried to make it look a bit better.

So it either looks better or looks like I’m trying to cover up a huge body lift :flipoff2:

Are you sure a shop built this truck?:flipoff2:

I have the receipts 🤷

First Marlin bumper I’ve ever seen in person. Some things I like, some I don’t. But unless I can find a CBI laying around cheap, it’s staying.

Same, I didn't realize the fitment was so bad on a 1st gen!

On all the previous year Toyotas, there was sheet metal there. Either they just bought a "Toyota" bumper, or marlin didn't change anything to make it fit better.

Thought about buying a roll pan… decided I didn’t want to do body work
