Hot or not? I found a regular cab 1994 f350 cab chassis truck with 11' frame rails behind the cab. Truck is a 460, 5 speed, 4x4. Buy or pass? Id like it to tow my jeep which it will obviously do fine. But i could potentially build a big flat bed and put the jeep on the back.

Will the truck be a dog towing?

Can I have a 14ft flat bed on an 11' frame rail??

And lastly, first person to mention the gas mileage can suck a dick :flipoff2:

I really enjoy the grunt of my 460 in my rig. Even stock, it has great torque. I've always wanted one to use as a tow pig.
A buddy of mine has a mid 90's EFI 460 auto truck and is very impressed by it's hauling ability.

Guessing by the length of the frame rails, it's a chassis cab truck with the narrower rear frame, 2.5" leaf springs and frame plates under the cab?
I'd imagine if the flat bed was built sturdy enough and well tied into the stock frame, a 14' flat bed would work cantilevered out past the stock frame.

damn, thats a sweet 7.3 single cab! Maintenance costs will be more but a cool truck.

its a lot more truck for just a little more money

i did text the seller asking if he will take a rhino + cash as a trade  but he said no

Biggest thing would be if the wheelbase is long enough for the 14ft flatbed not really the chassis length. I wouldnt see problem with a 3ft dovetail on 11ft bed as long as you have good weight balance on front-rear axles. Slow but will get job done type of deal, can you live with slowing down (on hills especially) or do you need to be doing 80mph while towing\hauling like an asshole?

OP seems like an asshole :flipoff2:

Apparently a 5.0 mustang computer and harness wakes those up big hp gains, they're also more efficient in other ways too:flipoff2:

It it some cherry, only driven on sundays, showroom condition low mile truck?

Or ragged out POS that needs attention in every way?

To answer your questions:

Yes

Yes

ad deleted by owner, damn that was a nice truck

That went quick but I’m not terribly surprised. I’m sure you will see much more of those trucks in the F450/550 for sale cheap between now and the end of the year. CA is banning them.

That was an F350 though.

460 is faster than an IDI of the same vintage.
on par with 7.3 powerstroke in it's first few years.

drinks fuel.
seriously. you're gonna get like 5 mpg towing and 10 mpg everywhere else.

Yeah, I’m just saying you will probably see more just like that f350 with a 450/550 badge on it go for even cheaper between now and New Years because of the ban

You are right. Ive been noticing them come uo, probably even more now. Its a lot of truck for the money, those f450/550s. Id take one over a 250/350 if reg wasnt an issue.

I had a 91 F250 with 460 and a e40D, it was a dog towing.
It still got me to where I was going, but I was always sad when I saw a hill.

I was never happy with an e4od, and once diesel prices got retarded, I started to think more and more about a sefi 460 zf5 family trucker occasionally towing 7-8k, possibly even de stroked to with a 429 crank to ease the thirst.

I'll never do it, so you should and tell me how it works out:laughing:

Clearly, you should do this instead.

Destroking a 460 won’t help fuel economy. A msd box, headers and exhaust, not putting huge tires on it will help. My 95 cclb e4od 4wd got 7-8 towing and 10-11 empty. On a trip across Ohio it almost pulled 13 mpg.

there’s much more to it than that. Plus the MAF swap isn’t worth it at all. It can only handle so much before it needs to be tuned so your back to square one. Better to run an aftermarket ecu like Holley or a MS based system. I’m working on setting up a Microsquirt for my 96 BBF

Well FWIW, it was a thing 10 years ago, and it was reported approximately 33% hp and mileage gains, but yeah, it was a flashed ecm. I'm sure the aftermarket has improved greatly.

I've considered building one, but money wise I keep going diesel. Like guys putting a custom Chevy LS head on a 300 six. Pretty fucking cool, it even works, but I've got other shit to do:laughing:

Here’s my 1990 F-Superduty, I have a 11’ flatbed. It’s perfect for my Samurai, I could easily add 3’ to the bed and haul Jeeps without taking too much weight off the front. I’m not sure how my wheelbase compares to the one you’re looking at. Pulling a heavy trailer hills are tough. Mine has the 4.63 rear, 255/85R16 tires. I like the truck, but sometimes I wish it had a 7.3l Powerstroke swap.
