1994 BRONCO/CAMPER BUILD/TRANSFORMATION

After I install the shorter fan belt I'm going to cycle/bleed the air from the PS system.
I want to see what happens with the PS pump, because I'm thinking said PS pump is dying.

That said;
Because I want to get the Bronco on the road, I think I'm going to replace the PS pump with another OEM pump.
1) OEM PS pump: $78+ (reman)
2) OEM pressure hose: $27
3) OEM return hose: $24
vs
1) Saginaw bracket: $100+
....Or search for one in local JYs.
2) Saginaw PS pump: $46 (reman)
3) Hoses: $104+

This will be the August project.

But if you go with a saginaw you can't tell people you have a supercharger anymore.

I go0gled pics of it mounted; nothing.

W.A.G.:
The 3 little hole is to mount the bracket.
The 4 big holes is for mounting the PS pump.

I'm failing on how's it's mounted.
It bolts to a Saginaw P pump or maybe a TC pump and has the 3-bolt C3 pump mounting pattern so you can bolt the Saginaw pump in your stock Ford mounting bracket.

Gates used to sell a P-pump with an adatper like that on it.

Ok.🤔
My next question; goes the PS pulley line up with the other pulleys?

I went searching and found brackets that use 2 and 3 of the driverside water pump bolts.
On my Bronco one of those bolts is compromised; only half of said bolt is used.

Probably. They'd sell the bracket with shims or spacers if it didn't.

Those aftermarket brackets are not great. Stick with your oem stuff.

I thinks it been answered, but the countersunk bolts hold the bracket to the pump and the regular bolts mount the adapter bracket to the stock ps mount. The Saginaw is a much stronger pump.
Here’s mine. 95 5.8 in an eb with remote reservoir Saginaw and an adapted York 210

Factory vacuum hose routing:

How I rerouted the vacuum hoses:

I removed the baked beans can/reservoir.
Put a plug (blue dot) on the black hose, and abandoned the red hose.

My vacuum tree has 6 branches:
1) Brake booster
2) Fuel pressure regulator
3) Air B/air D
4) EVR
5) A/C sys
6) unused

Installed the shorter fan belt/topped off the PS reservoir/started the car/bled the air out of PS system.

Drove to the storage unit; discovered I lost about 20% power from steering/it feels more manual.
Is the PS pump dying?

For clarification:

Factory original PS pump (261,000 miles)
'99 4-bolt gearbox

All ford C2 power steering pumps can die, here it your excuse to put a Saginaw pump on it and get rid of the noise!
I always thought the Saginaw pump was simply more reliable, but when I swapped one on it felt like my front tires weren’t even on the ground when I turned the wheel (with 33’s.. will be funny to see how much I stress it with 40’s).

Does it use lock washers on the back, a nylock nut, or one of those misshapen lock nuts, is it a flange bolt?

The two rear bolts/lock washers I bought at an Ace Hardware:

I had to dig up two flat washers to take up the length of said bolt.

I'm referring to the three front bolts, that hide behind the pulley, that holds the pump to its bracket:

Tomorrow's project is to install the Saginaw PS pump.

I've very interested to see, after 20 years with the factory PS pump, what it'll be like with the Saginaw.:smokin:
