So, my brother has decided to part ways with his 4900. Figured I'd list it here before dealing with marketplace. I'm going off memory and my phone, I'll update specs and pics this weekend.

1990 International 4900
DT466, 400Kish miles
Spicer 5sp, direct 5th
rear re-geared to 3.7x, will tow 65-70 without screaming
Airbrake truck. Controller for electric trailer brakes works well.
Rear receiver and gooseneck ball.

Farm tagged, so no CDLs round here if that matters to you.

He's really wanting to trade for "something cool" or a streetable type wheeler of around the same value (4runner, Taco, wrangler) or $9500 since we gotta have a price.

My opinion , the DT 466 is the best med duty truck motor ever made !
They are slow turds in the heavy 4900 series trucks. Should have been Big Cam, 3406, etc.
Have 3 at work with 5000 gallon water tanks, 59k GVWR I think. 16k steer and 46k rears

not sure they are talking about power, cause yes they are slow.
just like my 3126, slow but pretty reliable.

10-4

Didn't realize this was a for sale, guess I was half paying attention to the words.
Didn’t mean to shit on it.

Course a fairly light 6 wheeler with a little trailer probably will do WAY better than a 10 wheeler sitting at 25-30 tons.

I thought 4900 meant "heavy haul".. double frame, dual steering box, float steers, walking beam rears.

That's the trade off of an MDT, it's either a shitty heavy duty or a monster light duty.

I'd definitely recommend this thing for the latter. The 5sp and single speed rear work really well for pulling lighter (10-15k) loads. 22.5s and airbrakes are the shit for "handling" the weight and parts last forever.
