Would a 6 lug 2500 1989 Chevy 4x4 have a nv3500 or a4500?
Chance to get whole truck for $500.
It's 2 hours away and no pics of trans. He can't get under it to take any.

To early for a nv4500
idk when nv1500/gr270 came out but typicaly s10/k1500 only

Get the spid # and look them up or call gm dealership.

Get a pic.

Idk when 6lug 2500 started either but they have a 9.5" 14bsf not a 10b rear. I didnt think they came around until the early 90s.

SM465 or Getrag I think, get him to take a pic of the RPO codes in the glovebox. MW something is the 4500, M50 I think is the 3500, not sure what the SM trans code is. But that code will tell you what trans it came with.

if you have a pic of the inside, the SM 4 speed trucks have a big plastic trim piece on the trans center hump, none of the trucks with different transmissions had that

Too early for the NV4500. The SM465 is a four speed as is the NP833 - which was the other manual option for those years. The NV4500 started in '92 with MT8 as the RPO. If it actually is a manual five-speed, then it was swapped in there.

Thank y'all. I'm gonna pass on it.
Already have a donor truck, but if I could find another cheap,I'll take it.
