Located near Harrisburg PA. 1980’s f-series parts truck. Free to anyone who wants it. I’ll help you get her on your trailer if you want her. Willing to ship/ deliver smaller parts if you need something for shipping/gas cost.

2 wheel drive. Extended cab long bed. Was a dump truck at one point. Bed is long gone. I snagged the 460 out of it. Tranny was fucked and is already on its way to becoming beer cans.

There’s not much left at this point. Dana rear end (70 I think), doors are decent, hood and core support are in surprisingly good shape. I don’t have a title, and have no interest in putting the time into getting one.

Smooth bottom D70?

Those are killer crawler rear ends, 35 spline stock, barely less clearance than a D60 and no lip on the bottom and gearing down to 7.17s for underpowered rigs. 👍

I’m not entirely sure. I’m a 14 bolt nut swinger, I’ve never paid much attention to the variations of the Dana axles. It’s definitely not as bad a boat anchor as a 14 bolt though. I know guys like these things, that’s why I’m giving it a chance to find a home on here before it goes to scrap. I sure as shit don’t need to trip over it for the next 20 years, but it’s not busted up and it’s not like there’s a million of them on Craigslist like there was 15 years ago

pulled the cover and a shaft. 10.5ish on the ring gear, the shafts are 1 7/16”, and 35 spline. So that should be a 70 unless I’m a complete retard (which is entirely possible).

3.54 and a limited slip. Come on people, line up to take my garbage:flipoff2:

If I was close by id load it on the trailer, pull the axle out and take it to scrap without ever unloading it.

Nothing about it is better than a 14b except stock to stock clearance, and the ability to run 5.86, 6.17 and 7.17 gears. Which work really well on 4 cyl and V6 rigs.

I’ve always been a foolsize guy, so v8s were necessary for my heavy pigs. Probably why I never got into the Dana axles. I never had a desire for more than 4.56 gears. I prefer to break my parts with engine power instead of gearing:flipoff2:

How rusty is it? I was planning on just going with new material to re-frame my Ranger but it's a lot less work to start with an F-series frame (less work actually since it's already got spots for half the shit I need to bolt to it).

Shit can live in my yard while Eric and posford get what they need. I just don't have a suitible trailer to move it.

eric i don’t see an hd cast on it anywhere, but that is all the marks I see on the webbing. 3.5” axle tubes

arse_sidewards frame looks like it’s in good shape. Surface rust on everything, but no heavy rust, no rot in the spring hangers, crossmembers all look solid, and the frame isn’t cracked at the steering box. It’s 37” on the rear half, so it wasn’t a cab and chassis

Of course it's not cracked at the steering box. It's not a Chevy.

Thanks for checking. The "1SU" identifies this axle as a "Super 70" which has a 10.75" ring gear compared to 10.5" for the normal 70's.

Has anyone expressed interest in the cab/body?

You have a trailer other than the gooseneck? Gooseneck and van don't go together, or at least not well.

More importantly if its a super 70 it uses spanner adjusters to set backlash and preload unlike shims in a normal dana axle. Similar to a 9 inch or 14 bolt.

Nope. I did pull the bumper for a guy at work. And I’m planning on pulling the hitch to stick on my dentside. Other than that nothing is spoken for.

I like that. If it sits around too much longer, I’m considering cutting the 70 out and sticking it under the 79. The more I’m reading, the more I think that it’s on par with a 14 bolt and would save me the time and expense of getting my hands on one of them. Maybe I should have actually looked at it when I picked the truck up instead of glancing at it and thinking it was just another 60:homer:

Well I definitely want the frame and as many brackets as I can get it with. It can go on Grendel's trailer or in my van in pieces. But it has to be before the end of October. Once there's road salt on the road the van is done for the winter. I'd prefer just the frame because 17hr in that pile is fatiguing enough without a trailer behind you.

Seriously, I'd love the frame. I just can't think of when I'll have a weekend day free enough to drag my ass down there and get it.

That's less than the Uhaul 6x12

It even has brakes. I don't know if I can handle that much luxury.

I guess that's my excuse to wire the Aerostar for 7-pin and a brake controller.
