1968 Ford F-250 Prerunner Build

OK got started on some tubes for the rear bumper. They follow the angle from above and below the cell and the space between them is the perfect height for a license plate as well, since pre smog in Cali this thing will be driven on the street.

Ok i'm starting to get the smaller items knocked out so I can pull the motor to get that over to the builder. Then I can finish welding and painting everything. Got the Power Steering Solutions reservoir/cooler mounted up today. Also started on the throttle cable brackets but I didn't finish that yet or got any photos of that since it's not done yet anyways.

OK knocking off a few more mounts today. Got the trans cooler mounted up today. Also will be mounting an oil filter for that as well. Started making template to finish boxing in the firewall as well. Lots of little more tedious things to get in place before tear down, final weld and painting the chassis.

The spare can't go any farther forward because the sway bar is between them. Plus is the spare comes loose it will be flying off the back of the truck. Gonna run a 3 point strap and have never had a problem with those before.

That is an extra large Triton Engineering Cooler. Similar to a CBR Cooler but awesome quality which I have seen some current CBR are lacking in that department.

OK so more small tedious brackets and such on the truck today. Mounted my spin on trans filter AND a spin on fuel filter brackets today. Also got a tab welded onto the fire wall for the throttle cable to bolt onto the attach to the go pedal as well. Also was making more templates to finish boxing in the fire wall to seal that up after welding it all.

OK so knocking more things off the to-do list. Added a couple diagonal tubes to another 3rd removable clamp for under the spare so if the tire is flat there is more tubes for the rim to sit onto with the 3 point strap holding it down. Also made some tabs for the 3-point straps to hook onto as well. The Driver side tab had to be longer since that tube is bent to clear fuel cell fill plate so I added a piece of plate on top of it for the tire to rest onto instead of an edge of 3/16" plate.

OK got my fuel pressure regulator and Flex Fuel sensor mounted today, which isn't exciting since it's just 2 tabs, no photos of that. Also did the cage to rocker floor boxing in as well.

OK so i got the Restomod Air Conditioning Evaporator mounted up in the cab AND i got half the bulkhead mounted to run the lines. Also once I got that mounted up I mocked up the seat and tested the gas pedal and such and I realized the gas pedal was in the wrong spot and too close to brake pedal so I made new gas pedal And I cut/moved the brake pedal over about 1.5". Everything clears and is super comfortable with my feet too which is necessary

Anyone have a speedometer gear shaft thingy for a Ford NP205 they want to sell me?

Well I been working on this thing everyday but it's all the small more tedious things that look like you didn't get anything done. Tabs for the brake lines and such. Also I got a couple more taller adjustable stands and put the truck up around 4" higher do I can cycle suspension easier and fully as well as get under it to wire/plumb on the sides of the frame. Cycled the rear suspension and it will swing a bit over 36" of travel. Front will swing 24" but I will limit those numbers down. How much travel should I shoot for front and rear? It's around 115" wheelbase.

I fucking hate doing that kind of shit because you always do it in a way you think will be right and then when shit is all done you realize that you could have moved a tab 15deg or some other trivial change and had clearance to swing a better wrench or could have used the same fastener you used elsewhere, etc, etc.

There's no winning unless you either say fuck it and just slap shit together with no thought or are doing serial production and can revise things on the next unit.

I wouldn't limit it except as needed to keep from breaking shit from bind. When you're 4ft in the air every extra inch that the shock has to work before you hit the bumps greatly reduces how hard you hit the bumps and how likely you are to break stuff.

Yeah I am basically drilling/tapping a few spots on the frame so then I can just make a bracket and bolt it onto the frame so that doesn't happen or if I don't want it in that spot there is just 2 10-24 holes in the frame.

I like that flat head with a supercharger!

Same here didn't take many photos. I believe its a 32 as well. He ran the drags and honestly it sounded at idle and looked awesome but didn't run in the drags that well

Well crawled under the truck again this afternoon and got the frame and bottom of the tubes all welded up along with swinger tabs and beam mounts too. Will get some more items welded up under the floor boards and then the tranny cross member tabs and start welding the link mounts to frame so I can get some paint on the tubes/frame and raptor liner on the cab.

Looks like the project has a shit load of welding man. The easy part compared to design/fab and fitment though. Getting closer to making Vroom sounds.
:smokin:

OK so got some more filler pieces in the firewall filled in around the tubes. Also did some box in plates between the beam pivots as well. Then ended the day with removing the trunnion bearings on my LS rocker arms and installing some bronze bushings in their place.

OK more welding today and finished boxing in the motor mounts as well as added a couple gussets to engine cage. The one on driver side has 2 holes to mount the windshield washer fluid container/pump in it so I did the same on passenger side with a single decorative hole.

Well not much photo worth progress again today. More welding of the floor/firewall but it's getting closer to throw some seam sealer on it and get some steel-it paint up front and raptor liner on the firewall/floor.

OK well didn't get much done yesterday since I helped my brother finish a few projects at his house. Then today I fixed the broken trans mount tabs that I hit with the engine hoist cycling rear suspension. Then I decided to put the middle 3rd seat in and where I had the shifters it was going to make that seat unusable so I did my original plan and moved the shifter to the left side of steering wheel and moved the t-case shifter to allow the middle seat a tiny bit more room. Still not much room because of the AC but better than it was before. I removed the shifter from the plastic housing that it originally came with and fitted a couple brackets off the dash tube to mount it and then fabbed an aluminum sheet metal piece to cover the bottom of it and make it look good. Most of the bracket holding shifter will be hidden inside the dash with just the screws to remove it and such accessible.

OK today I got a screen protector made for my trans cooler. Didn't mount the screen to the boarder yet since I was out of the nuts for the screws, so I no photos of it mounted.
