I bought this truck used with about 200k on it, was in great shape - no oil leaks, no check engine light but needed to do brakes and tires and water pump. About 300k, I got hit by a kid in his moms minivan and decided to sell it to a buddy and buy a brand new Tundra. He did all the ball joints and shocks and put a new steering rack in it.

Buddy texted me this today

Original starter and alternator, valve covers and oil pan have never been off. Original trans, t case and diffs. Fuckin thing is good for another 100k, easy
And this is when it pulls a Amber Heard and shit the bed. :flipoff2:

Dust that gauge cluster real quick :barf: You putting tons and 40's on it or what?

Are these really that great?

Just pinged someone for under carriage pics on a CLEAN crew cab, 6’6” bed, 2006 Tundra.

Really wanting to dump my Chevys. Just done with the GMT 900’s and their rattling shitbox feel. Plus, not sure when/if the DOD/AFM is going to give me a lot of work to do.

The 2UZ is a million mile motor with proper maintenance. Not great fuel economy but will run forever.

How about the transmissions? I was told by an ex-Toyota tech they saw a lot of burnt up Tundra transmissions from heavy towing.

I do know my 4Runner trans fluid runs way hotter than I like.

The first few years of the tundra, up to 2002 had issues but still lasted a long time.

I just had my 4L60 rebuilt a couple years ago and don’t want to get into another trans rebuild.
The toyota trannies are good but there are no guarantees with old stuff

Yes, this is always a fact. Just nice to know issues to look for.

When I got my 08’ 4Runner it had a shudder at 25mph. Common issue that doesn’t really cause problems. New fluid fixed it.

Probably the same 5 speed auto as in a 06/06 tundra. I don’t know if they added clutches or anything in the tundra, though.
