Side to side leaf spring movement

I am building bump stops and they are very close to where the shocks will ride. How much side to side movement should I expect. I have cycled everything and I think it will all clear by about 1/2”. I don’t have my shocks yet so I just shoved these in place for mock up.

    Broken Yukon diff gear

My friend upgraded his stock 1st Gen Tundra rear diff with Yukon 4.88 gears and the trueurac locker. In under less than 10k miles, he blew the ring gear (pics attached) while towing a trailer. Yukon sent him a replacement under warranty but looking at the broken vs replacement, they seem very...

96 tacoma no start when hot

Not my truck but my moms truck 3 hours away. i’ve changed coil packs plugs and wires so far. the exhausted has been replaced from the cat back since I could probably put my finger through the muffler (assumed it collapsed internal causing at least part of the problem) she replaced the battery...

Something every pickup/4runner owner will deal with eventually

I took the heater box out to do a small patch. And well, one thing lead to another. I got a lot done before the mosquitos kicked me out of my own garage. And I thought the drivers side was worse...Unless you live in california, chances are this will happen to you eventually. And if its bad...
  5. 2rz swap into 1982 Toyota, engine won't idle

Here's where im at with the swap. The engine came from a 1999 automatic with the dual coil ignition. When i purchased the truck, the previous owner placed the engine in the truck, and gave up when it came to the wiring. I got a good start on the wiring, the e5 plug from what i understand has 4...

    85 extra cab

I bought this truck pre Covid so cheap by today’s standards. It was 22r and g56. Po did a awful Rancho lift and said he “rebuilt” the carb.

    Evan’s 4Runner Stuff

I’ve been vacillating on starting a “build” thread. Figured since I’ve started my SAS I will start a thread and just start posting stuff here as I go. This is my first SAS and I already have some questions but right now it’s beer:30 and there’s an IPA calling my name. 1993 2nd Gen 4 Runner...

Any Benefit to welding these up?

I got a little crazy with my new plasma cutter. Should I weld up all these undercuts or does all that welding just weaken the area? This is the worst spot. I am plating the whole area.

aw4 to 205/241 with 22r turbo on propane

good am all, with the lead times of atlas and everything what do you think about this as a combo, sure i like my 5 spd, but think i want to do an auto now. the turbo and gearing has help the little engine come alive but if your not in the right gear your still kinda screwed. so here's my...

    Caster angle

I’m setting up a used diamond housing for my SAS. If I set my perches flat at zero my housing has about 2.5 degrees of caster which is about stock. I am hoping to put this axle under my 4Runner as is without cutting the perches off and rotating them. Running 37s if that matters. Would you...

    Big tires and up travel

So I was finalizing the turbo location in the pickup, when I realized some of the space under the hood that I wanted to use for the air box, will need to be used to clear tires. And so, I spent the rest of the day working out just how much to cut. I still havent committed. Would like to get some...

Wiring non-Toyota engine into Toyota platform

I'm swapping a 1996 Dodge Magnum 3.9L into a 1993 4Runner (don't bother talking me out of it:flipoff2:). I would like to maintain as much of the Toyota controls and instrumentation that I can. I can do this myself, but it will definitely be a time-suck. I was wondering if anybody had any...

Tranny fluid change in 330k LX470?

My LX470 has 330k and runs and shifts great. It's a DD. We live on a very steep 7 mile dirt road. The fluid was flushed about 5 years ago and has since had about 30k miles. The fluid is getting a bit dirty. I have a few gallons of castrol synthetic ATF and thinking about pulling the drain...

  16. Thread size?

Anybody know what size threads are on a 1994 4 runner fuel filter that's mounted to the frame? Internet said 14mm x 1.5 and that is way too small. Seems closer to a 11/16" but pretty sure it's metric. Need to by a fitting that goes from it to -8 AN.

$h!tbox Hackfab cobble build/repair, 1983 Truck slowly going back to the elements

Thought I'd stir up some love and hate with my real (cheap) world repair/build of my rolled yesterday truck. So here's my shot from the Fail! thread yesterday. Come off a rock on the side of a ditch with no spotter the wrong way, while in a hurry to get down so I could help a buddy (who turns...
  18. Single ARP hub stud source?

I broke an ARP hub stud, probably from a bad rock hit. Does anyone sell a single ARP bolt? Don't really need to buy the full $120 kit if I dont need to, otherwise I'll throw a stock one back in. I'm running extra dowel pins already.

Any recommendations for the best motor mounts that don’t vibrate the hell out of the truck? Nuff said.

    Another "what's it worth"

Been looking around and can't really find anything comparable. Bought it to 3.4 swap and build but then I took over my son's truck that we built and was already 3.4 swapped and built so this had just been sitting and I am tired of it being on the side of my house. It's on non-op with about $250...
