So getting a winch for the new jeep. Occurred to me the other day that the Jeep has the ability (theoretically) to provide 48v to power a winch. The amp draw reduction would be very nice, but no one really makes a 48v winch. So what are the drawback to running a normal 12v DC winch motor on 48v?

Got a milwaukee fuel brushless air compressor gave to me that got ran over. The tank and compressor was only thing without visible damage, trying to find out if the motor might be AC or not. Or how it works, ive jump terminals to 18 volt battery, and it just bumps the motor. Thanks
