Can you use 5th and 6th gear or are they just for decoration?
Its geared so low that 5th and 6th are required for highway speed of 55 or more. 😆

I seldom use 1st unless I'm pulling out up hill from a stop. And then its just to get it rolling and immediately to 2nd for a second or two.

That's my town. I know a guy that works at that place. They buy cream puffs, shine them up and sell them for a very high price.

They compete with this place a few miles away. There's a lot of classics moved through this 40k population town.

I bought a clean ‘73 FJ40 soft top from a guy in Sherman many years ago. I think he owned a topless club. Please tell me that’s not you.

Don't forget with the later 4cyl TJ you can put a PT cruiser turbo on them. Looking at the numbers I'm guessing they have a different cam in them since the jeep 4cyl supposedly makes the same ft.lbs as the turbo PT but that could be incorrect.

These numbers are off google so take them with a grain of salt.

Jeep
  • 2.4L Inline-4 (Base SE models): Produces 147 hp @ 5,200 RPM and 165 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 RPM.
  • 4.0L Inline-6 (X, Sport, Rubicon, and Unlimited models): Produces 190 hp @ 4,600 RPM and 235 lb-ft of torque @ 3,200 RPM.
PT Cruiser
  • Standard Turbo: 180 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque (available on Touring, Limited, and Dream Cruiser models).
  • High-Output "GT" Turbo: 215 hp (2003–2005) or 230 hp (2006–2007) with 245 lb-ft of torque

It’s hard to tell but I think you’re right. In one picture it looked like there may be a shackle at the front of the leaf, but then in another picture it looked hard mounted on both ends.

It has shackles on the fronts. They are home made jobs and thats why they look funky. In the underside picture with the shackle it looks solid mounted but its not. The rectangle tubing it looks mounted to is part of the frame side shackle holder. The execution sucks but its not solid mounted.

I'll take your word for it because base off the two pictures that show the underside, I cant see where the top pivot is. Even exporting the pictures to blow them up.
