S-10.jpg

A post earlier made me think of this. In ‘85 I was a make ready tech at a Chevrolet/Toyota dealer. I got to drive all of the cool stuff at the time. I special ordered this little truck and drove it for 11 years.

I got some 2.8L heads from a Camaro with larger valves and got a race engine shop to port and polish them. I put a camshaft for an X-11 Citation in it.

It screamed and yes that is a Polaroid picture. Wish I had that one back.

What vehicle do you wish you still had?

I see your s-10 and I'll raise you a S-15, also on a polaroid. This was my first new vehicle, 1982 GMC S-15 with the Gypsy Package. It came with the side stripes and a Large Graphic on both bed sides that said Gypsy Magic. The stripes and graphic would reflect light at night and show up as a red reflector. Chin spoiler and lights were also on it. Bucket seats/4 speed/V6. Kept it 12 years and sold it to buy a 1959 Chevy truck. (this pic is after a repaint in 94, couldn't source the graphic)

This is the car I regret selling. 1950 Cadillac. It was a project and I was tired of it. I wish I'd kept it and done a modern drivetrain swap.
No 15 1950 Cadillac S62.jpg

I love it.
None of them. I closed the chapter of my life they were a part of and I look forward instead of back.
Good for you but I don’t think it works that way.

This could be a cool thread.

Two BMWs

E30, and an E90 335I. Sold both due to impending PCS moves.

and a Mazdaspeed Miata that my wife crashed.
Holy cow that sounds crazy. Let’s keep it simple. Just car stuff and no stories about the womens.

Great topic. I'm working on my old 75 FJ40:

I got rid of it in the mid 2k... I got a majority of it back in the mid 2010s. It is on the long term project list right now. At one point it had a big block cady in it  Frame has been restored to stock.

Another that I would kind of like to build up is a 1.5 gen S10 Blazer(technically 86 s15 Jimmy). I had an 86 s10. Loved the body, hated the interior electrics and drivetrain:

The engine blew at 115k or so and I swapped a 2.8L from a camaro with home brew port/polished heads that woke it up. I don't have a picture handy but it made it up Hollister Hills tank trap before it became a thing. 2" body lift with 31s that I spent a bit of time hiding.

Those are second and third vehicles that I owned that I had a choice in... **** that 79 Grand Prick:lmao:

1968 SS 396 El Camino I had in high school. Sold it to get a GT Mustang. Friend I sold it to let his little brother borrow it and he rear ended a big rig.

1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, glacier white pearl glow with black guts. The best long distance highway car I've ever driven. Cruise comfortably at 85-90 all day long, with lots of luggage room in the back. Could still outrun 90% of the cars on the road today. Very fun car but only two seats. Sold it when my daughter was about six months old.

1989 Porsche Carrera 4, guards red with black guts. My all time favorite sports car. Comfortable, fast, handled incredibly, quirky, but dam it was fun. Sold it to buy our third house.

Friend of mine had a square body he built and painted, kids came and he sold it to a guy he worked with.
His family presented it to him last weekend.
His 15 yr old son found it, made a deal with the owner 7 yrs ago. He's been getting it running, new motor, all the little ****, theres still lots of little **** to do.
Anyway, family went to a car show and as Tims walking he's all, hey, that looks like my old truck. Well, thats because it is and heres the keys.

We beat that truck senselessly in the dunes but Tim always took care of it, clearly, its had a hard life

1989 4runner. 22RE, 5spd. actually kinda a POS that i couldn't wait to be rid of at the time but now with time money and some space i could build something out of it. would be worth an easy $5-7k in my area now. sold to my dad who used it to plow his driveway before he parted it out. used to see a couple trucks running around with my doors and front fenders before i moved away lol

1978 bronco w/ 460
2004 Volvo v70r
1987 jeep grand wagoneer
1994 ford ranger

I’ve probably owned 100 vehicles. Out of all of them, those four are the only ones I regret getting rid of. I have at least two now that I don’t think I’ll ever sell. But I guess we’ll see where life takes me.
