Useless things about your day!

Well . . . I ain't exactly feelin' that^ rush any more - nope, I'm pretty well cured

[TV announcer voice] Today's episode of the Fail thread is brought to you without commercial interruption by SendCutSend [/TV announcer voice]
Because your design didn't include a good surface to guage against so they said f it lol.

The smart thing would be to refund the bending operation plus a few % and then fire the customer. Last thing SCS needs is support costs (and prices for real users) being driven up by entitled people with nothing better to do than complain about a missed operation (and a fairly petty one at that) on a one-off.

Or at least that's what certain people here have always told me any time I've had issues with a business not performing satisfactory service.
remember the target market is the "I'm a maker now" crowd of reddit types like that californian teacher guy that's always really emotional on here
spend all their days behind a desk pushing papers and drawing cad files with sharp inside corners that can't be made any way other than EDM or a cape chisel
then chew up their weekends bolting together overpriced legos they mail ordered to 'fix' nonexistent 'problems' caused by their own ineptitude
of course they're unable to clamp it in a vise and hammer a bend in it or score, bend, weld it
and god forbid the flaky ****ing powdercoat gets scratched

oh wait, exactly like you with the brakes on the ranger :flipoff2:

talked to my little brother Matt last night. he sold a big 5th wheel to a couple (he's an RV salesman). they show up in a new Ford cab and chassis truck, no bed on it yet. just the fifth wheel hitch bolted to the frame rails. Guy hooks up his brand new camper. goes to pull away and forgot to latch the hitch. camper pulls out of the hitch and the hitch on the camper slams down onto the top of the exposed fuel tank and ruptures it. dumps 50+ gallons of diesel all over the lot and destroys the fuel tank, sender, all of it. brand new truck.
😮

people had just sold their house and were going to travel and live in the camper.. now their truck is sitting at the Ford dealer to get the fuel tank and sending unit replaced before they can leave.

Matt said I am just glad it wasn't my yard guy that hooked the camper up!

Protested my property tax this morning.

County has it at $301k I don't have a problem with that number but I don't think I owe them any tax money so I protest.

I put a case together about light pollution from the adjacent gas station and a creek/sewer ROW.

They make you state a value before hand which I am not good at sandbagging, so I counter at $285k.

Then after looking at my $50 worth of 8x10 pictures they agree with my estimate of $285k.

Well **** first rule of negotiation is make them say no, ****ed that up but I'll take the discount.

2 yrs ago I bought my lot in Utah ...it was listed at 60k for a year...I offered 40k and they took it....

(I'm still the dummy..could have bought it for 25k 2 yrs prior but I digress :lmao: :homer:)

I get new tax bill...county value is 60k:shaking:..I appeal and explain why...they agree and value is set at 40k....

Next yr.....they say 60k again...appeal again and it's back to 40k:shaking:

It’s so fawking stupid how an automotive 5th wheel latches. It’s unacceptable and I intend to die on that hill. With a semi setup, they back up into it and then pull forward right then, before they ever open the door. A big truck driver knows if it’s latched before anything else happens.

Then these half ass light duty pieces of **** require you to get into the bed to pin the latch.

Whats a couple brackets like that cost?
Not cheap - without powdercoating, it would've been $106 (shipped) for the pair of parts.

I'll be happy w/ my decision once parts are in-hand; sano fab and immaculate finish.
The textured powder disappears next to the factory plastic filler panels behind it on the bumper.

Because your design didn't include a good surface to guage against so they said f it lol.
 - they did great on the other part, someone just missed an op. on this one.

All they needed was the STEP files to quote almost instantly online.

They have this thing called "CAD" these days - ever heard of that gimmick? :flipoff2:

OK, I'll bite - what am I missing? Please be specific, as I can't hope to reach your intellectual level.
I think he was trying to parody a typical IBB response, RE: personal responsibility, entitlement, etc. I don't think the sarcasm was very apparent, but certainly not if you ignore the part of his post that you didn't quote. Not trying to be a ****, just calling it as I see it.

He's so often full of ****, (>50%, which loses to a coin toss) that I never know whether he's having a stroke, injecting sarcasm, preemptively backpedaling, or just spewing copypasta from some Reddit thread.

Since he has very little respect for the veracity (not ferocity) of his posts, I am hesitant, nay - resolutely disinclined, to give them any more import than he does; based on simple reciprocity and being loathe to put excess thought into the products of the thoughtless.

That's on me - when Arsewipe develops the cure for cancer, I'll miss out; and that's my cross to bear

It's actually really fun when you're coming at it from a position of already having more analog fab skills so you skip the traps like 0-radius corners and even when you **** it up you can still usually make it work.

nonexistent 'problems' caused by their own ineptitude
Like a TDI Insight.

And that he personally is one of the more prolific peddlers of such responses so it's kinda funny to see him change his tune when he's on the other side of it.

I said exactly the kind of thing you'd say if I said "aw shucks they didn't bend my stuff".

And that's before we even touch the whole trying to get a duplicate of a $100 item sent while keeping the original while insinuating from context it ought to be free in my email to the vendor. You would go into full on boomer chest thumping mode if I did that.

Wow, you're pretty ****ed in the head if you think I'd say that. Feel free to dig through IBB, PBB, JKO, and CK5 to find one example of that - I'll wait. Knock yourself out, Mary

I'm not trying to get any free **** (nice arse-sumption as is your M.O., nimrod :homer: ), but I knew beforehand that they would not send an RMA for the defective part. Why, you ask?

Simple economics from the standpoint of a manufacturing manager (my day job, you myopic cubicle troll). The part produced incorrectly would cost them more to RMA ship, strip, bend, re-prep, and re-powdercoat vs. making a new one from scratch. Anyone who's done this will tell you that; think outside your limited experience for a ****ing minute.

You would go into full on boomer chest thumping mode if I did that.
Again, you're thinking of someone else, if you're thinking at all.

Nowhere did I say they would RMA it. And you give me **** for assuming. Like I said, holding up a mirror.

You think I don't know how much work it is to strip powder coat off ****? Of course they're not gonna RMA it. That's obvious. I ship servers to literally the other side of the world of course I know how this works.

Arse for brains, stop thumping your chest, we are already aware that you know everything.

I'm not trying to get any free ****
You're right. You didn't ask. You implied. With half a century of practice being slimy you had better not make a rookie mistake like coming out and asking for free ****.

You framed the email to insinuate that they should just bend it and send it (and finish it too, obviously). Maybe they just roll over and do that and you get to keep the bad one for "free" or they refund you and you shoot the bad one with some spray paint and call it good enough for the price. That's the situation you're teeing up.

And if someone, like me, says "this asshole is angling for **** he doesn't deserve" you can then go on to construe that as them being unreasonable and that you didn't ask for anything and hope they just say **** it, not worth arguing.

OK genius, then where did you get the arse-headed impression I expected free ****?

Seriously, pick a ****ing opinion and stick to it. You're contradicting yourself (shocked face).

Even you don't know what the **** you're saying; how the **** should we? :lmao:

You're right. You didn't ask. You implied.
No, I knew that's what they'd do. Not "arse-knew", I knew knew based on experience in manu-****ing-facturing. Jesus, you don't know **** about **** about what you're talking about. I'd be ****ing ashamed to publicly be the dumbass you're being right now.

And for the sake of economy of my time, all of the following quote is stupid, ignorant, **** as well.

All bull**** from within your myopic, assumptive, worthless head. Eat a ****, Greg :homer:
