Isle of Man 2026

And the side car division has been suspended indefinitely for this event, rumored already never to return. They did make all the side cars run restrictors this year which was intended to knock off about 5 mph on the average, they were approaching 120 mph for a lap average, bikes are over 130, top class near 135. I read that the kit from yesterdays side car accident (Qualy2) ended up in a spectator zone, hence the immediate clamp down

RIP rider Ingham

OP, any change you can edit the ***le to lose a N?

I absolutely endorse the attitude of the Manxians.

You come here and understand the risks, well have at it son. If death results so be it.

Bucket list event for me, in fan mode. I lack the skills to even consider riding there. Let alone racing.

Utmost respect to every single rider, but especially the amateurs racing their dream on a non existent budget.

Looking at a list of deaths. It is almost an unusual year when someone is not killed. Serious stuff. No run off zones. Death or serious injuries to spectators will result in a serious look at continuing to run this event. I hope that is never the case.

I know it’s already be posted, but it’s bs to suspend the sidecar class. Just like pp and all motorcycle racing for that matter, We know the risks involved. These people have spent a metric **** ton of time and money to get where they are at. To pull the rug out from under them is bs. I would be hot as a firecracker if we were racing there.

Rip.

So woman drivers ruining it for everybody??
Nah, two fellas crashed sidecar just the other day. Why all sidecars are suspended as of right now, debate is ongoing.
Maria Costello is actually an accomplished racer. **** happens, they are booking some crazy speed there.

Agreed on all counts.
Those teams are put in No Mans Land.

I think it was Guy Martin that said something along the lines of: if it scares you get back to cutting your grass, leave us to it.

But everyone here knows it is all about $, attracting visitors/vendors/sponsors. Covid hit them hard in the pocketbook.

Supposedly there is a movie being filmed there too, stars Channing Tatum.

Who knows what comes out of the spectator crash that injured 8, plus the rider.
Insurance companies run it all...

I was just talking ****. Any woman who gets on that track has my respect, I couldn't do it.

I know some people that lived over there

I dont have the skills to race in the big boy class, but I would love to be there when the race comes to town, then do a normal-people--ride around the island at a later date

just the fact that I would have to re-program my brain to ride on the other side will be cheating death on its own to complete a lap alive

Same with Baja
I want to trail ride it, and be there when the TT's do their thing

There's video of the sidecar crash. Pretty brutal. Came over a small crest and caught air. Damn thing did a quasai blowover/corkscrew into the burm on the side of the course.

The IoM TT continues because the Manx love it and it's a huge boost to the economy. That and they're not subject to the kind of litigation that makes a race like this impossible in the U.S.

It is one of few races left on this planet that remains true to its origins without pussification.

I would also recommend looking into Northern Ireland Road Racing in general. The Northwest 200 for instance is faster than the IoM.

I used to work with a Brit and he was telling me the Manx will VRBO their house during the couple of weeks the TT is there. They will go on holiday and the house rental pays for their vacation somewhere else.

I too would love to go watch it sometime in person. The videos I have seen of the racers flying by at 150+, laid over in a corner on only the back tire. I honestly don't know how some of those riders can fit in their leathers with balls as big as they have..

Coming down Bray Hill at 165mph+ through town into a right hander is not for the faint of heart...

It's on my list of things to see before i die.

Hopefully they don't Nancy or on me before i get there

Just saw this on the IG.
A freaking rabbit on the road course.
Per co-rider they were 130-140mph at that time.
He has broken lots of stuff.
Looks like her injury is a pretty severe one:frown:
