Useless things about your day!

Nope. Kinda surprised me, just no steel case, which i don't shoot anyway.

Marked safe from shotgun shooting dogs. Safety third people, safety third.

I took 2.5 7 gallon buckets of used brass, either stuff I didn't want per headstamp, or loose primer pockets, etc. Got $450 at the metal recycling place and freed up some room on the floor.
Where does one find a 7 gallon bucket?

Protested my property tax this morning.

County has it at $301k I don't have a problem with that number but I don't think I owe them any tax money so I protest.

I put a case together about light pollution from the adjacent gas station and a creek/sewer ROW.

They make you state a value before hand which I am not good at sandbagging, so I counter at $285k.

Then after looking at my $50 worth of 8x10 pictures they agree with my estimate of $285k.

Well **** first rule of negotiation is make them say no, ****ed that up but I'll take the discount.

Good for you, most people just roll over and pay whatever arbitrary number they come up with. My sister worked for the LA county Assessors office for many years, you can only imagine how entitled these people are in their job, "How else are we going to save the children?".

What's absolutely bonkers is trying to find comps for my advantage, there aren't any because EVERYONE rolled over and is paying...The properties behind me are the same acreage 1.9-2.2 and they are getting hit for $150k of land value while I'm at $90k.
Just like people that don't vote, these dip****s that allow the county to rape and pillage are killing everyone.

7+ years ago, Uline had our best price when we needed about 20 7-gallon buckets.

We CNC drilled 232 ea. 1/8" holes in 5-gallon buckets

and nested 'em in 7-gallon buckets for scooped CNC chips to drain before going in the chip recycle bin.

Holy crap, that was over 7 years ago  - I would'a guessed 4 :homer:

Fun fact: 232 1/8" holes makes about 2.85 sq. in. of open area.

Well this is progressing quickly.

M 21yr old son has agreed to buy this house, my older sister is a mortgage wizz and said yea, this can happen.

We're gifting him his down payment and closing costs via a "gift of equity" which I never heard of. He's gunna make out like a bandit after a couple rough years of having to manage his income though. We're very happy to help him, he kinda got the short end of the stick his teenage years due to all the issues his sister had.

So yea.. we should be house shopping sometime in the next couple weeks. Yikes.

What's awesome is his lease is through the end of August, so he can stay there and we can stay here while house shopping. And we don't have to spend a month fixing up the house to put in the market.

FYI if you haven't already, you may want to talk with your accountant (or an accountant) if your gift of equity is over like $30k as you might be on the hook for the taxes of said gift.

Yea I saw that, the wife talked to her accountant and we should be in the clear. Looks like the big beautiful bill changed that from.

"Exceeding the annual gift tax exclusion doesn't mean you have to pay a gift tax — it just means you need to submit IRS Form 709 to disclose the gift on what's known as a gift tax return. The amount of your contribution that exceeds the annual limit will then be subtracted from your larger lifetime gift tax exclusion (more on this later)."

"Lifetime gift tax exemption example
If you gave your brother $50,000 in 2025, you used up your annual exclusion. The bad news is that you’ll need to file a gift tax return , but the good news is that you probably won’t pay a gift tax. Why? Because the extra $31,000 ($50,000 - $19,000) simply counts against your lifetime exclusion. If you give your brother another $50,000 this year, the same thing happens: you use up your annual exclusion and whittle away another portion of your lifetime exclusion."

Nice, damn good info and glad to hear it's more relaxed than just $30k

I said the same thing. The first time the wife explained what her accountant said I was like ... Wtf? Are we walking about the same thing? I had to look it up and read several sources before I figured it out.

As of right now your lifetime gift allowance is like $15 million... I think I'm good there

I might be starting a SendCutSend addiction, still feeling that "first hit rush" right now.
Well . . . I ain't exactly feelin' that^ rush any more - nope, I'm pretty well cured

Fail :mad3:

Just sent this email to SCS after opening a box that looked too shallow to contain my order (and it was) :

Hi,
You missed the bending operation on 1 of my parts (see photo below, it should be obvious).
I hope you can expedite the correctly made replacement.
Please advise on ETA of a correct part and let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you, (ExWrench)

Parts arrived quickly and are nicely made & finished - if they hadn't missed the bending op. on the base :homer:, I'd be really happy

I'm sure they'll make it right (hopefully quickly) but right now they're on my **** list.

EDIT: the sticker they sent would've been cute if they hadn't ****ed up, but now it's sadly ironic:

To be fair- it is Send Cut Send, not Send Cut Bend Send....:flipoff2:

Yabut, there's no "Coat" in SendCutSend either, yet they prepped & powdercoated the unbent part

****, maybe I should've had 'em send me lasered-out flat bare SS to bend, etch prime, and rattle-can.

But they offered to do it all . . . so I paid them to . . . and if they had done it, I'd be a happy camper.

The smart thing would be to refund the bending operation plus a few % and then fire the customer. Last thing SCS needs is support costs (and prices for real users) being driven up by entitled people with nothing better to do than complain about a missed operation (and a fairly petty one at that) on a one-off.

Or at least that's what certain people here have always told me any time I've had issues with a business not performing satisfactory service.

I am impressed. You managed to triangulate yourself over the issue and be wrong in multiple ways at the same time.
