Sore **** Deals

$58 after 46JEYIAZ for a complete set of flex heat ratchet wrenches. ordered a set a couple days ago after realizing I've got various ratcheting wrenches missing/broken

Ratcheting feels smooth on all of them. A couple sizes I'll never use but hey, the completeness helps with the OCD

one important piece of info: they're LONG. as in, they're probably 20% longer than the other flex head set I had from years back, i think gearwrench. I personally would rather they be shorter for access reasons, but kept them anyway.

I'd rather a name brand, but for the amount I use them these will do

Hrm. Maybe ill try that.

I have a GearWrench setup that half are broken. I dont know if mine were assembled on a Friday afternoon or what, but the ratcheting system only lasted a few uses.

$63 shipped, I'll take that. Thanks for the heads up, just ordered a set.

I have warrantied some of the gearwrench ones at advance auto parts.

Ill have to see. Probably too late. This happened years ago. Did the driveshaft ujoints in my truck. The very first bolt, after cracked loose with a solid wrench, swapped to the GearWrench ratcheting one, and before the first bolt was even removed wrench was bound up solid.

Same job, another wrench stopped ratcheting too. After that I threw them in box.

woods lifetime warranty

Their warranty process is pretty simple. I warrantied a 1/4" dr flex head ratchet last year and it was easy, no questions asked.

I hate ratcheting wrenches for their terrible clearance. They never get used because I'll end up needing to grab both them and the normal wrenches for the ones the ratcheting ones won't reach

but then there's the other end of the spectrum also being a ratcheting wrench; the gear-box ones
out of all the wrenches I've got, those are the ones I grab first and get used the most

They have their uses.

Before Sears shut down for good I bought a set of fractional/metric that were on sale.
There is no lever to change direction, just flip them around. Combo wrench design, open on one end, ratcheting box end on the other.

Think 17mm is the only one I replaced to date, they keep soldering on, and I reach for them often.

Now for hardware that needs some torque to break it loose, I reach for my Capri extra long double boxed end wrenches, then finish off with ratcheting wrench if so desired.

For rounded off stuff/damaged bolt heads I have Capri WaveDrive Pro set in metric - already paid for themselves a few times they got used, most recently removing a bolt on my neighbors truck - brake booster had to come off and one of the bolts was rounded off pretty bad.

HD has a pretty solid deal on a Ryobi 3/8 ratchet with batts/charger here. Not brushless according to someone on Slickdeals but it's better than the no-name one I amazoned that sounds like it's going to puke parts when I use it. FWIW the batts/charger are currently $99, the bare ratchet $89.

Based on normal battery pricing, that is a very good deal. Generally though, if an "HP" option is available as a tool you are looking at, they are generally preferable ("HP" are all brushless models).

My dad got tricked and bought something very similar from a facebook ad.

For ****s and giggles I plugged it in and put down a respectable 6013 weld. I'm not saying anyone should buy one but it did more than nothing. :lmao:

I bought him a hobart 140 for projects around his property which will serve him much better.

I bought one in a much more 'conventional' layout and it does work pretty okay for 60 bucks
I bet since that one says '140a' it only actually does 70a output

You just have to feed it double the voltage to get full power:lmao:
sadly the one I bought was cost-cut to a 110v audience, all the chinese components inside are right up against their dubious voltage ratings when fed 110
the nicer ones are auto-switching from 110-220 and everything in between though, just feed it what you've got and it makes what lemonade it can; gave me the thought of powering it off of a bank of ten car batteries since the first stop inside the box is a rectifier

but that is an interesting thought, now I'm kinda wondering about the inverter circuitry and if it really would be cheaper to make it entirely open-loop and stupid enough that that bus voltage would directly influence the output current
I could see how it'd halve or double the voltage, but the current is controlled by PWM on-time and then smoothed with a choke

(I know you were joking)

I put off getting one for the longest time and as soon as I finally bought one I only regretted not buying it 2 years earlier. :homer:

They really are better all around. If you have to work in gravel or dirty, they're 200% better for that. Even IN the shop, they won't get stuck trying to roll over a zip tie and they're naturally taller and work better on trucks and higher rigs. The height is really only a hinderance on smaller cars.
