Useless things about your day!

I had a much smaller one fall out of a pair of damp swimming trunks I left on the bedroom floor as a kid. I never did that again

Quite the unfortunate post to be all by itself on a new page with no backstory lol

Kids wanted to set up the pool this weekend. Had to build a better platform than I had last year. Its not perfect but it way better than the supper ghetto bull**** I I had it set on last year. I’m ****ing whooped. 128 blocks used and a lot of 5/8- most of the sand was already in place. Probably moved 5 wheelbarrow loads of sand into the middle before I started. Might meed a few more but its close.

A venomous centipede wrangler was NOT on my bingo card.
We've seen these outside several times, but yesterday we had one in the house.
Chased it around a room and lost it. Hours later, Victoria is lying on our bed, and she hears something, only to look over and see one of these on my nightstand.
I'm ready for it. I grab a plastic bag for a glove and a small box. Well, it was the ****show you'd expect it to be.
I saw it, it was about 5" long, so my head did the calculations and decided that if I pick it up dead center, I'll be good.
Except I wasn't. I snatched it up off the floor, flipped my hand over so I could see only to discover that it was now 8 or 9" long, and trying to get out.
I think I screamed a little, I know I yelled: "What do I do with it ?"
Victoria told me to throw it outside, so I did.
Threw it so hard it hit the carport about 30' away, dropped 15' to the ground, and hauled ass out of here.
I do not need to repeat that

To the fire chief.. Well there was this centipede in the house, so.. yea. I killed it with fire!

Driving down a two lane road last night pulling a trailer and a red tailed hawk was on the side of the road. I get about 30' from him and he jumps up holding a rat or something, maybe small rabbit, I dunno. He gets about 3' of altitude before he meets Mr Ram grill. OUCH sorry buddy.

Just got word that the shooting at a semi local grocery store last night took the life of the BIL's ex gf. Not much info on it but she was killed at the scene. Shooter tried to shoot himself but botched it and is in custody.

update to this. they are charging the shooter with 1st degree murder. sounds like he went there, shot Amy, then scanned the lot for another person and shot the kid pushing carts. then shot himself and lived.

This whole thing with the city is going off the rails. We met with City planning this morning, which we thought was going to be a discussion about what we have and what we're doing, but it really just a meeting telling us they already decided and we have no choice but to have the permit.

I said, that's utterly ridiculous, this is a hobby she does on the side for fun, how can you justify putting under the same classification as someone running a full on wood shop at their house.
(Mind you the permit requires 2 public notices and an official hearing at the court house along with notifying all the neighbors first, it's. Its not a simple procedural nothing)

She didn't take kindly to that and started arguing with us.

that's now escalated apparently to the planning lady emailing the original police officer that we refuse to get the permit. Which was never said. I said I don't want it as I don't see how it makes any sense.

Long story short, we're moving.

Short term, blackout curtains for her craft room and just being more careful about smoke/smell.

It’s be a while since I’ve stayed up 24hrs. Sister called at 10pm saying the new car she bought won’t stay running and needs help. No biggie…but she’s on the south east side of Houston 🤦‍♂️. Fueled up at 11pm and rolled back into the driveway at 6am with a 2016 Malibu I get to diagnose and fix why it won’t idle/run.

Well, found out my dad's doctor ordered home hospice care for him.

He fell 2x in the 5 days since I left. He's 82, and his body is shutting down. I just don't want him to suffer. I've made peace with his passing, but it sucks seeing a parent go downhill that fast.
I'm so sorry. I know its a bridge we all have to cross but that doesn't make it any easier.

I bet if you shoot the permitting lady everyone else in city hall is way more laid back for a least a decade. :flipoff2:

I'm more of a Komatsu D355A bulldozer guy myself

Edit: at the end of the day I want out of this house regardless, and have since we bought the place. So no reason to go committing felonies, but it'll still piss a guy right off. The only problem is none of my wife's income counts (she made more than me last year) and is really ****ing us hard on the mortgage application side.

Marked safe from shotgun shooting dogs. Safety third people, safety third.
Why would anybody buy this?

I took 2.5 7 gallon buckets of used brass, either stuff I didn't want per headstamp, or loose primer pockets, etc. Got $450 at the metal recycling place and freed up some room on the floor.

That’s good to know. To turn it in as clean brass you have to knock the spent primers out, correct?

nope, primers are all brass too (209s are a different animal)
cartridge brass is its own grade, usually a good bit higher than clean brass because it is of a known alloy where general "brass" can be just about anything on through to being bronze and not brass which is a pain when you're trying to cast things with it
