So a coffee shop I go to sometimes has this awesome sparkling water on tap. I finally asked the., and they said its basically co2 carbonation whatever stuff, so I started looking inro it. I think Id really like one of thess things at home.

big mac carbonator, keg, etc. I get the concept but most of it is foreign to me

My family consumes so much sparkling water, we've discussed doing a whole setup under the sink and having its own faucet.
Just haven't taken the plunge yet. Probably when we remodel/build addition.

When I still brewed beer I always had sparkling water on one of the taps. Fill a keg with water, stick it in the fridge with the others and hook it upto it's own CO2 reg (I preferred it a bit bubblier than the beer)
I have a kegerator fridge with 3 kegs all making carbonated water. The whole setup cost less than 1K. I run a 15lb CO2 tank, way cheaper, lasts about 6-8 months for about $50.

I have all the stuff to set this up. interesting idea.

Last island trip we took to Exuma we were stressing about enough soda water for drinks, they want $30 a case down there and we didn't want to haul 2 weeks worth of bubbles on the boat. Casual Math figured about 30 gallons or 250 lbs of ready to explode 2 liter bottles bouncing on the boat for 300 miles. Bought a Sodastream and pumped our own bubbles. Worked great.

Mom and myself drink at least two bottles a day each.
Typically we stock up when Costco has Pellegrino on sale. Probably have 12 cases right now.

At $15.75 and a 24pack it comes out to $.65 a bottle with current prices, used to be about $5 cheaper a couple years back.

How small of a fridge can you get away with? Dont drink cold water, but sparkling water would want cold. Any way to hook up through existing fridge?

A 2.5 gallon keg or even smaller would be spot on

#whattaprice The machine is $3600 or so. I'm sure there's a lot of tech inside it but that's enough to buy a lot of the stuff.

that one looks abou 4x overpriced? parts is co2 regulator, keg, fridge, dispenser, cap? definitely not dropping 4k

Its about the convenience too. Cold sparkling on tap vs store, load unload, store in fridge, waste bottles. i can go through 2 gallons of regular water a day, and Im not sure where you guys buy it for .69 a bottle but peligrino is 3.50-4 for the larger bottle here.

Costco, when on sale

24 pack, 10 pack limit. At least local to me.

We still use SodaStream. Its more difficult to get replacement CO2 for it since moving here (nearest place is 45 minutes away), but its still WAY cheaper than buying it by the can/bottle.

I have a Sodastream I don’t use anymore. I converted it to use paintball canisters and then refilled those off of a CO2 bottle I have. You buy a brass adapter. I had most of the rest.

"sparkling water".

Us adults refer to that as carbonated, fordguy.

My kid bought a soda stream so he could drink soda water instead of buying soda.

He gets his bubbles and lost 20 lbs.

I still don't get it, but it's dirt cheap compared to most setups.

You need it cold to keep the bubbles in suspension anyway.

You can buy kegs in all different sizes but bigger means filling it up less often. You have to wait for the water to cool and CO2 to absorb after filling.

My first setup was just a cheap used mini bar fridge with a hole drilled in the door for the tap. Pretty sure I had to gut the existing freezer section to get the 2 kegs to fit.

Now have a slightly bigger one, designed to hold 4 kegs, with 2 taps on top. But since I stopped brewing it just holds cans from the liquor store. I should get off my ass and fill a water keg at least.

What age?

16.

Wife and I stopped buying pop because it's gotten stupid expensive and neither of us drink much of it. But, kid works at 2 restaurants and has unlimited soda at work. Wife talked him into soda water and lime or lemon, so he decided he needs his fancy drinks at home too. :shaking:

Got one of these for my birthday last month, and this thing kicks ass.
