A few days in the life out here.

Thank you man, I had no idea anyone gave a shot buy ok.
Here's how I narrowed it down.
Nevada. Seems a logical choice, but blue politics are increasing.

Then Utah, again flaky politics. Mormon dominance.

Idaho. The state owns most of the land and whats left is pricey.

Wyoming. Great areas but pricey and the State has plans for major intrusive infrastructure.

I landed on Montana for many reasons.
Then don't look at Montana Solid Iron 's website.

I know. There is shady **** going on in every state.
I chose the one where I thought I could Increase my odds.
So far I stand by my decision.
I just mean from all of the projects that you'll aquire. We bought a truck from there.

That number is still active but I have no signal out here for it.
It only works when I take it to town.

The new number works everywhere.

Weather is weather, it changes every year for better or worse you can deal with it far better than a toxic state.

Precisely man. It's not as convenient but it beats corruption any day.
Tomorrow is a 140 mile round trip to get fencing materials. Luckily fuel is reasonable now, but it all adds up. I run a winter additive so you have to factor that cost with fuel.
Make your trips count is key obviously.

My next quest is a pre 1980 CJ5.
I need a yard goat and all the fancy SxS utility rigs start at $10k. For 38 HP and a CVT transmission. Faaaawk that.

So my logic is a bare bones Jeep has the same benefits as the SxS and much more, plus I can drive it to town or wherever so its got versatility.
Np smog or inspection here.

No filter.

Half the people I know with a SxS have street tires and a license plate to drive their razor or ranger around town. And they go just as fast as a Jeep :flipoff2:

Malta is a cheap place to live, but damn is there a reason for it. I think I'm a long ways from nowhere, but I'm not that far out (a few hours south of you).

You'll have to go to Kipp and watch the elk bugle during the rut. I can't think of anything else to do up there besides fish. Used to be some good bass ponds but it's been 20 years since I've been up there.

Oh, and 5G is on its way. I had it on Ft Peck now, when it used to be no signal what so ever. I barely even see 4G much anymore.

I appreciate the info. My logic for the Jeep is more HP, geared 4WD, similar footprint, mount a bigger winch, more weight, but still light on the critical areas, etc.

I think I can spend less than $10K on a suitable yard goat/Jeep.

Curious you're a few hours south. Billings area? Not prying, just thinking you're not far from my travels. Always nice to meet neighbors. If you can call 300 miles apart neighbors, but out here... you do!
Howdy neighbor!

Lewistown. So if I need much I end up in Billings or Great Falls. Work generally takes me to the Bozeman area though.
I average 80k between the work truck and personal every year. Kinda funny how miles aren't that far up here with the traffic. Over 100 miles to a Home Depot is just normal.

I feel that way sometimes, bit then I remember that I made it happen.
I sacrificed **** and sacked up, and moved.
Its not easy or for everyone, but luck is just you taking opportunities as they present themselves.

I hate when people say **** like that.
Theres no luck involved, I'm where I am because I made it happen , I took the risks, just like every other thing I've done in life.

Glad to hear about your daughter.

Thank you for the daughter shout out.
She's blowing my mind with the stuff she wants to talk about. Things I wanted to share but wasn't sure. ... Well,... she's already there and telling me ****.
It's surreal, but awesome.

In the city I could lose power but still have nat gas to cook and shower, water still worked, but not here.
You lose power and you're a sitting duck. Especially in the winter.
Peace of mind achieved.

That's a hella wtf transfer switch...

It was about $1500 for the whole deal.
I just wanted a manual interlock switch, but my panel didn't support that.
To reconfigure my panel would be more than that and this solves all the problems.
I don't have to choose 4 circuits.

If the generator is big enough I run the whole operation. I have the generator.

Got the GenerLink installed. You need the utility guy so it took a while but it's in.
Full house power capability from the generator. Automatic transfer you can't backfeed with it.
I've read about those. I would love to have one installed, but I've also read it's a big NOPE from SMUD (local utility) :shaking:
