Anyone apply for a utility patent on a rather simple mechanical item? I’ve filed them for complex software products.

How complicated was it? Cost? Did you use a patent lawyer?

no experience, but I have a buddy who is a patent attorney who focuses on pews and stuff if you need a referral.

Yes, dont know, not much, yes. My uncle was a retired patent lawyer. Sorry not much help. Didnt do me much good. Big companies just tweak one little thing make it, then say "sue me".

Paging Sceep

His name is on many patents, dude should be famous beyond IBB

Should be for sure but they are all employer owned.

Yes you will need a patent attorney to search out all the prior/existing art.

You can write your own claims but I wouldn't. Very specialized wording is used to make broad sweeping claims.

Unless you have hundreds of thousands to defend your claims in court they are worth nothing.

Don't know about cost really. $30ishK is stuck in my head for some reason. That might be all in, attorneys etc... Dunno. Might be way off. Company delt with the money side.

China will steal it and produce it with 0fg.
