Anyone in or near Indianapolis? Ashke is stuck there with a badly broken vehicle

My thought
is the transfer case might already be cooked.
Probably. Either save it to drive on the trailer, or drive 5mph with the flashers on like a true WV resident. :flipoff2:
Yeah that sumbitch is squirrely. I never want to do that again. Damn near wrecked into a semi because it jumped the ****ing lane.
Did that in a samurai with lockrights. Totally understood.

Front autolocker is not fun/safe to try to drive with.
Pussy. It's ****ty but it's not thaaaaat bad at low speed. You develop a technique.

I drove my TTB F150 ~50mi like that because I forgot to loctite the rear flange bolts.

This concept of abandoning your **** when something bad happens is ******ed rhetoric. I'm not a damned kid. I am in the process of a move and bad stuff happened.
I concur but if you're gonna tow **** cross country with obsolete cars you kind of need a better plan than phone a friend. Even in the best case phone a friend is slow which doesn't really work if you're not a retired geezer.

The guys that do long distance with garbage vehicles are either old men who invest $$$ up front putting all new unobtanium parts in their 4bt swapped vintage truck ****pile and bust out the credit card when it goes wrong or they're checking car-part on the side of the road on their phone and making some phone calls and figuring out whether they're getting an uber there or driving it.

You're clearly "getting there" but

You can drive a 241c without oil for 200 miles. (without a trailer), but I would chance it to put it in 4 high and drive it to the nearest junk yard if you haven't already.

Or drive it 10mi to a sketchy place you can park and then uber to the junkyard.

Sounds like the best option to me.

Call the junkyard and pay them upfront to put it outside the gate if you're gonna pick up after hours. Junkyards are pretty accommodating like that for the most part.

Sounds like home

Never again.... Or maybe....

I have owned many ****boxes in my life, one thing I always did was not drive them farther than I could walk back home.
So you never daily drove your **** boxes or did dumb **** as a kid? You were perfect and smart and knew everything your whole life?

The suburban isn't obselete but I get the idea. this was supposed to be fun and cool and somewhat of an interesting challenge. Hell, I was getting 12mpg in the Travelall with that 392. That was cool.

no, I was a stupid kid like most everyone else, but I learned quickly from my mistakes.

I am far from perfect, really far. Your path in life is way better than mine was, just keep pushing forward.

You got the U-haul yet? You got supper with your wife and kid tonight, get to getting there!

flat tow suburban with 345? the driveshaft is already pulled.
Theoretically possible, but it concerns me that I would become 3 for 3 on ****ed vehicles trying to get home. But I also don't have a way to mount a tow setup to the suburban. My tow tongue is set up for my Scout and I'd have to make some modifications I'm not prepped to make to the suburban to flat tow it

Uhaul is finally confirmed. I just hope the Suburban will fit in the damn thing.

Does it have enough duty cycles for that? :flipoff2:

On a serious note - NO, the scout does not have enough brakes to safey pull the Burb, it would be unsafe and the last thing he needs to do is more unsafe ****.
No, that's really not true. Going slow and steady and the scout will pull it carefully, just like any other stupid **** I could do. I've seen a Scout pull a bus back in the day. however, you did just remind me, the brake booster went bad in my Scout on this trip. So. With that, absolutely not going to happen.

Especially when it comes to ****ting on people for having old project vehicles. Like how dare you have a ****box project on this ****box project forum.
Never-mind that half these ******s drive **** that could be relegated to a deaslerhip lot for weeks while back-order parts show up.

You can make a ****ty tow bar with a chain, two pipes and three bolts.

Two pipes and a couple bolts, you say

Arse, this is not the time for your sketchy recomendations, he needs safe and easy, he needs to get home to his family.

The U haul and dolly is the best solution here
The sketchy tow bar will get him from the Lowes parking lot that's 3mi away to the next town 30mi down the road at 25mph where the transfer case is.

Just another tool in the toolbox.

from the googles

A Chevy Suburban generally fits on a U-Haul Auto Transport trailer, though it is a tight fit due to its weight and length, often barely fitting with the rear tires near the edge of the deck. While many users report success, it is considered very close to or slightly over the trailer’s 5,290 lb capacity

Look up a buisness near you. Find their zipcode.
Drop it in car-part and see what's close by. I bet there are a few of them.

The picture I sent had 2 cases for $150 in a 26 mile range of indy.
