Anyone in or near Indianapolis? Ashke is stuck there with a badly broken vehicle

I went to MARSOC Selection. I gambled on my future. I made it to the end and didn't get selected. My reenlistment closed while I was A&S. End of story. I got out April 24th. The USMC sends you back to where you shipped from or local, I sure as **** weren't staying in California. So back to West Virginia. I staged my trucks in Fresno, at my grandfather's, drove my f350 pulling a c10, dropped that off with my wife and son in PA on Monday, flew back to Fresno to drive everything else back. My TravelAll blew head gaskets in Nevada, so towed that to a buddies in Utah. I'll get that at some point. Then we split the Scout and Suburban up through the Rockies. Hauled ass. Then hooked up in the flats using the suburban to pull the scout, started having some what I thought were trans issues but couldn't nail it. Thought maybe it was a ujoint based on the sounds, but the driveshaft wasn't loose or ****y. then, here in Indianapolis, the ujoint sheared, the pinion yoke got chewed up, the dog ears of the drive shaft sheared, and then from beating the concrete it ripped the tailshaft apart. The tcase seems to be out of oil but I don't have the sockets to verify with the fill plug. I'm tired. I've been on the road for two weeks. Here I am, in a ****ty position. Sorry fellas, I know this is some disappointing news, but I would surely appreciate any assistance. I do have a job lined up when I get back, too, and we're looking to buy a house with some property, too. I'm not back in the dumps or something, it isn't like that. Just a new direction. I promise I wasn't kicked out. Though, maybe it's a good thing. that Iran **** is low key a little ****ed.
I am sorry dude I am just having a hard time believing after all these years we are right back in the same spot that we started in, you broken down asking for help.

Do you ever think you try to do to much? I do.

Your entire trip seems way over the top and not necessary.

Sometimes in life you need to sack up and realize all your **** you keep trying to lug around the Country isn't worth it. You sell your ****, you move to where you are going, then you buy new ****.

I am sure these guys here will save your ass again

Current plan is to fetch a u-haul and tow the ****burban. Then drive the Pile of S...cout.
Wont that wont cost about as much as the Suburban is worth? 1 way u-hauls are expensive as ****.

Sell the broken **** right where it sits for whatever he can get and keep moving on.

He doesnt need all these old POS vehicles, I think he is addicted to having them and thinks they are way more important then they really are.

Sell that ****, move on, start the rest of your life.

🤷‍♂️
Don't try to convince me lol.

The worst part is when they break and your obsolete and one-off vehicles require unobtanium parts.

The focus here is damage control and recovery.

Could we wait until the situation is somewhat handled before we start bashing.

wasn't bashing, or didn't mean to at least.

Was trying to highlight that the importance of getting the Surbane to his house really isnt important or worthy of all the effort it is going to take.

That selling it and moving on was the best move here.

Yes, I am saddened by the situation as it seems like the same **** over and over and he has (and is) doing good in life, I want the guy (not really a kid anymore) to just do well and stop needing people on the internet to bail him out when he tries to do stupid **** like this.

I also get that you have been looking out for him for the last few years and feel protective over him, he is a good guy, he just does too much.

I'm not asking for a handout. Just help with parts/maybe a tow. I have funds. you're entire comment seems over the top and unnecessary. Do you ever consider that?

This concept of abandoning your **** when something bad happens is ******ed rhetoric. I'm not a damned kid. I am in the process of a move and bad stuff happened. Have you never experienced a breakdown before you bumbling ****tard? the Suburban is worth a fair bit. The 350 is new. Only 26k miles on it. Same with the transmission. 4.56 gears locked front and rear. Front and rear ac that works. It was/us very reliable. until this. Anything can happen to any car. I don't need to defend myself though.

how is this any different than asking your friends/businesses if they have parts/help that you can buy? I'm not asking for free ****, I'll pay for parts, labor, beer, etc.

What is the value of the Surburban? I'd guess $5k ? (I have no idea actually) A 1 way U-haul plus dolly will be at least $3000 if not more.

I am just trying to look at this mathematically, is it actually worth it to recover and then fix that truck? Or is it better to sell it for $500 and move on?

He is only 400 miles out from home. Can't imagine it would be too much more than a couple hundred?

I'm only 300 miles from home? One way with uhaul with truck and a trailer transport is about 600. Where the **** are you getting your numbers from?

you are not a kid anymore I fully agree.

No I have never had a breakdown so I have not been in your position before.

If it is worth more than say $10k then I can understand trying to get it back.

I was viewing this more as you are tying to move back home to join your family and start your new life and you have already spent 2 weeks trying to make this happen so at this point just cut your loss and move on, that was my thought.

from people who have rented them on this site and said how expensive it was, $600 that is not bad at all.

I may have missed in your post that you were that close, I had thought you were still far away thus my price estimate.

Sounds like you got this handled then and can be home tonight.

The
question of it is the suburban has 33s and a 129.5" wheel base. I do not know if it will fit correctly on a transport trailer. I know it will be overweight, at 5640 lbs (The USMC had me weigh it before we conducted the PCS move) and transport trailer maxed out at 3125? But my TravelAll weighs 5620, also had to weigh it, and I pulled it anyway on a uhaul to Fresno, about same distance.m. So I know it can be done weigh wise questionably. But dimensions wise. I set up a reservation with uhaul but I'm waiting for them to get back to me about availability.

You can drive a 241c without oil for 200 miles. (without a trailer), but I would chance it to put it in 4 high and drive it to the nearest junk yard if you haven't already.

Front autolocker is not fun/safe to try to drive with.

When I say two weeks I mean the whole thing. I spent last week cruising in the f350 pulling the c10 my grandpa gave me with my wife and kid. then flew out with a buddy back to Fresno on Monday to drive everything else back, because transport hauler was going to be 7500+ and I said **** that.
