Highboy's container Hijinx

Jack post, they come in different heights, good for 15k or more. Put a couple anchors in your pad and bolt it down.

Well, got some work done, got some surprises, but mostly happy about getting some progress.

So I decided to lift it from a point about 15' from the closed end. The hope was that this would give me the height needed to place all the blocks.... ahhh hope...

The jack was place 15' from the closed end. I was doing some half-assed measurements and that point would let me get the needed lift to got all the blocks in. or so I hoped.

The problem was that the weight is not evenly distributed front to back, so when I lifted it here, I was lifting the front as well.

I was also using a second jack placed similarly on the other side, but the same issue of lifting both ends was consistent.

So I backed the tractor into the open end to add some weight.

That didn't have the desired effect, or at least not at the level I expected. Still lifting the front and the rear.

While it was lifting both ends it was also skewing the back of the trailer to the left (as looking at the door) and by the time I had it at 30" (measured from the pad) it had pushed the back over a foot.

So I had to figure that out... how was I gonna pull the back end over to where it needed to be....

Come-along was doing its job... mostly. I got the back end pulled mostly around.

The goal is 5 blocks under the left side and 4 1/2 on the right, so I had to make a 1/2 block.

Enter the diamond wheel of death:

I knew it could **** me up so I went slowly...

I used the 4.5" to make a shallow cut around the whole thing.

Then used the wheel of death to finish it up.

It was getting to be about 6:30 and I was starting to drag so I placed the 4th row...

But since it wouldn't (and wasn't expected to) a bunch of old forms will do until I get the rest of the block done, hopefully tomorrow.

Had to add another 2x to fill the gap.

Anyway, progress was made. Still 16" to go. and I left the tractor in there overnight... we will see if any critters decide to visit.....

Well I learned more...

Sika adhesive for epoxying rebar into concrete cures fast.... as in as soon as you squirt it in the hole insert the rebar fast... Some of the rebar is not not embedded well... :(

Now the rebar has to be re-cut to sit below the level of the pier block.

6x6 PT is heavy, 12 ft is heavier than I expected. HD isn't a fan of you cutting the timbers in the parking lot... but ****-em.

I had to make a 6x6 lifting beam and reinforcement so I can get the end of the container high enough to fill the piers.

Gonna have to mix, transfer to a 5 gal bucket, then use that to pour into the piers. Gotta be careful to not over fill the bucket... not as strong as I used the be...

I am gonna be sore tomorrow.

Also, never trust the weather guessers.... Had 14 bags of cement mix in the bed of the truck ready to mix up today... and it started raining... FML.

Rain should be out of here this afternoon.... I will plan on pouring 1 pier as I should have enough UN-****ed cement mix from the rain... then figure out how much I need for the other pier.

yup and you gotta set up all your holes and bars so you can do them one right after the other or it goes hard in the nozzle
then you can mix the rest on a board with a screwdriver and do your best to mash it into the holes but it takes 10x as long

get a 5qt oil jug (or maybe laundry detergent) with a good handle on it
cut the top open wide
scoop outta a mortar pan that you dump the mixer into

don't count all your bags out, see them left in the rain all the time, they got a layer of plastic in the paper bag, so they may well still mix up okay

Welp... You were right on the concrete mix. The sakrete version I bought has a poly liner and none of the bags were damaged.

So I got a friend over and we mixed and poured the piers and in a couple of hours we were done.

The lumber on the jack is 6x6 and it is currently only snug, not lifting and the container is on the block

I got it close enough that leveling should be easy.

Once it has had time to harden I will put the jackscrews and permanent lumber in place and call it done.

Long term, we will see how well my efforts at producing a lasting solution fare..

Wish I was there so I could smoke a cigar and offer advice. :flipoff2:

There is a working party on the 16th if you get a wild hair up your ass and decide to show up... but remember there are stairs on every entrance to my house.

How's Sam?

Sounds like a good time, wish I could make it. I'll still be recovering from surgery on the 4th. Sams fine, he wants you to come over and play with him.

Finally got some **** moved in, now to organize the garage now that I have some space.

But it is already over 90, so it is getting a bit warm and after yesterday my energy level isn't 100%.

Gonna do some less hot work like set my ass on the lawn mower and work on the plumbing in the crawl space.... :)

Happy Sunday!
