Don't we have a "bitch about idiots on CL or Marketplace" thread?

I've got a spare car for sale and getting crickets. I'm looking through marketplace for some other stuff and come across a half dozen WTB cheap reliable car ads which have little to nothing for what they might be looking for.

I'll message them asking what their budget might be and it's not very surprising the answers I get if I get one at all.

One Einstein messages me " Well I have a budget of 3 thousand and not more. I tell him I could probably do that if he get's it out of my driveway by tomorrow night.

The reply?

OK well I have to find out what insurance is gonna cost me and a tank of fuel and I'll let you have what's left of the 3 thousand.

Uh, no, just no. I know for a fact that insurance on that car is a grand and change for me with an impeccable driving record.

:shaking:

So what your saying is, dumpster diving behind the local ford dealer could be very lucrative?

May need some **** for 11-16 trucks. Could use some door seals and drivers seat ass cushion.
Possibly. I throw away more stuff than most though because we wholesale so we have 4 mil in inventory. As for 11 to 16 super duty stuff your **** out of luck if you want it from me.... My truck is an 11 and my brothers is a 13 :flipoff2:

Redbetty is a 17’ SD I’m in for some goodies that cost more to ship than they are worth. :flipoff2:

I will hold if you paypal / venmo me with no refunds, that normally ends that, or gets me free money.
I sold a Dana 44 once for $150. The guy was supposed to come pick it up within a week. One week, two weeks, three weeks later I send a message. No reply.

2 ****ing years later he wants to know when he can come pick it up :lmao: Dude, your **** is gone.

list those ferd parts on eBay. I sell surplus equipment parts and easier to sell on eBay than deal with locals. I swore off selling car parts as some people are a real pain in my ass. “Does this part fit my 2005 jalopy” “do you know how to install xxx part” “hey this part your sold me doesn’t fit my ****box” etc. Equipment people usually know the exact part they need and since the machines are generally used to make them money I rarely hear anything from them after the purchase. I sell $30-40k yearly on eBay of surplus parts I buy at pennies on the dollar. Easy to justify selling those Ford parts when your cost basis is zero. Anything less than $20 gets tossed in a bin as listing small parts isn’t worth my time.

Easy to ship those parts as they are already boxed up. Get a scale and weigh them print the label off and done. I would bet you could make a grand or two a month if you put some effort in.

This much inventory in the "trash" is a one time thing. My boss who just got fired kept stuff up to two years no sale before he would write it off. When my new boss came in (who is actually my boss before the one that got canned) he did what all the other wholesale guys advised and cut it all down to 12 months no sale. Everything sitting longer than that is whats on my scrap list. It is something like 600k worth of parts total but some of it is going straight to the scrapyard because it is metal stuff to big or oddball to store or sell. (Including a partial superduty and ranger frame)

Pm me if you want to sell those headlights AND if shipping them is not a problem for you.

Shipping stuff is the bane of my existence so if you can’t do that part I get it more than anyone you’ll ever meet.

Ha, almost the same thing for me!
I had a Dana 44 for sale, the guy paid me for the axle, then shipped me a ARB and gear set and paid me to install it, then ghosted me.
After a year went by I saw it on my storage rack and listed it for sale and sold it.
another year ish went buy and he called me, but he was pretty understanding when I told him I sold it, I am not a storage yard, it just looks like it.

Probably the same guy!

Didn't read the whole thread so might already have been mentioned....but wheel ads really highlight the limited mentality of a majority of marketplace users. How ****ing hard would it be to say what vehicle they came off of?

Even if they are clearly take offs from a newer vehicle "selling 4 265/70 17 tires on 5 bolt rims. Brand new, were only on the truck to get to the tire shop and upgrade"

There are sooo many of those.

Def dont list the gear ratio, or the spline count!

It sounds like the information he does have came straight from Grok. probably stolen if the owner knows nothing about it.

I see that all the time here. Some specific item listed by someone who has no clue what it is beyond a google search. I can only assume these are stolen items being sold by some meth-head thief.

Years ago I had a HP D44 carrier with 3.50 gears for sale on CL. Got a call from a guy claiming to be a axle builder who insisted Ford never had 3.50 gears in 1976-77. It's a very common ratio for 76-77 F150's. It's arguably the best D44 ever made with big disc brakes, weld on wedgies, and 1/2" thick tube walls. You'd think an "axle builder" would know about them.

FBMP is the same though. Toyota dolphin motorhome 50,000miles $1,000. Always a account that was just made that isn't visible and they have it listed 500 times in different cities all across the US. Meanwhile I try to list tires and they have me verify because my last ad was for a similar item that sold.
It's like "You don't ****ing say! I have more than one set!" yet these ****ers apparently have 50 motorhomes is that what FBMP believes?
